New Mog #3 arrived today! Much better shape than #2. Better hydraulic hoses.
Also, it came with a full tool box! Just when I was getting used to the storage space, this one has the hydraulic tools, bits, a grease gun, the elusive ripper shank, and even a sledge to install the ripper shank! Not...
I disagree with the others. Absolutely remove the loader. It doesn't take long, it is good practice, and it opens up the front of the truck. It's a good chance to loosen and grease the bolts holding it on. No downsides.
The following weights are with no driver and <1/4 tank of fuel, no tools in boxes.

I'm curious why you mention the springs. I had thought they had very heavy springs for air dropping, but when I drove mine around without the loader or backhoe, I found the suspension quite pliable. At 9700 lbs without attachments,I It still weighs ~1700 lbs more than a Case mb4/94. I will...
No updates in a while. Progress on FLU #1 has stalled as I bought a Lotus Elise and that has taken a lot of my time. Just picked up the last 2 hydraulic fittings I needed to plumb the new cylinder in for the RH stabilizer of backhoe #1 now on FLU #2. Exercised it for the first time tonight...
I am pretty sure my first Flu, with the non-op transmission, had been used for sling or airdrop practice as it had tape marking points showing the CG, and front and rear weights. Too bad I sold off the loader, or I would see if it had those numbers on the loader arms.
When I got my injector pump rebuilt, the shop was insistent that the bolt with the check valve be installed in the correct location. I will look at mine and see which position it was.
Mine had a disposable filter in place of the strainer. It plugged and starved me of power. Just remember, the strainer is a coarse clean before things get to the filter.
After plumbing back in the strainer, replacing the filters, and replacing a bunch of the fuel line with clear line from...
I removed the loader yesterday. On mine, the bolts are 1 1/4"-7TPI in ~4.75" length. I am replacing it with 5.5" bolts from McMaster Carr.
A 1" Ingersole pneumatic impact could not touch it. With a 5' cheater on a 1" breaker, I couldn't budge them. Ended up wrapping a chain around the loader...
Breaker bar
I could not get mine loose, even with a 5 ft cheater bar. I ended up putting a chain around the cheater and using the loader hydraulics to pull it. I bent the 1" Harbor Freight breaker. Eventually we were able to get it loose with a 1" Ingersol rand pneumatic impact. I will have to...
The tool clamps the hose tight on one side and is relieved for the hose to expand on the other side. Clamp hose in the tool and smack the fittings in with a rubber mallet.
There is a special tool for sliding the barbs into the plastic hose. I found one on craigslist from a retired Mercedes mechanic. I'll try to get a photo of it.
My Mog #2 was intermittent at not starting. I tried directly shorting the solenoid at the starter. No love. I had the solenoid on the starter replaced for $25 at a local Amish shop.
FWIW, trying to diagnose it, I could have sworn I heard a large relay click coming from the Rt side of the...
I have been working with Karp's brake service in California. I sent mine in to have it sleeved with Stainless steel. However, the problem we have run into is one of the seals is unavailable. The OD can be matched, but he cannot match the ID of the seal. The solution is to turn down the...
I have the front axle out of my non- parts parts SEE. I am in need of the drag link myself, so I was hunting around. If memory serves, I had determined that the US trucks are a 7:1 taper while the Mercedes is a 7.5:1 taper. Normal ball joint ends from a domestic truck shop will not fit.(they...
