Are you using the lever in the cab, or the remote by the backhoe? Be aware the level in the cab, if pressed down all the way, will go into a float mode. Mine screeches then too. Even in best case, the pressure relief limits how much downforce you can get.
I have hesitated to respond because what I paid is not what you will pay, and it is not what the FLU419 is worth. I have bought 3 and paid the most money for the worst one and the least money for the best one. Coincidentally, I knew the most about them when I bought the best one. So educate...
The solution for cold weather is to switch to a thinner hydraulic fluid. Anything else is just a bandaid. The belt driven pump will operate as soon as the engine is started, so it will be affected by cold fluid. It is the system that should be changed or pre-heated. However the belt pump is an...
I looked into getting a 3 circuit loader control valve from a tractor, that would allow joystick control of the loader functions and another valve for grapple operation. However, it would require giving up the control of the loader from the backhoe position.
Rather, I will get a hydraulic...
Yes, that is the bolt. You certainly can try it. My engine was pretty new and tight. You may be able to turn the engine by that bolt.
It would be odd that it is in 4wd with no air. The 4wd solenoid requires air to hold engaged. Regardless, with 16k lbs, it should roll w/o sliding. Make sure...
There is a large bolt on the front of the engine, but on mine it took more torque to turn the engine than the torque on that bolt. The bolt head is substantial, but the bolt shank necks down so I wouldn’t want to yield it. Why not put in gear and pull forward with the fuel cut off?
A parts backhoe you say? I know someone with one.
i have been debating parting it out to sell the plain backhoe bucket, and selling valve sections to anyone wanting to add an auxiliary circuit for a thumb.
I have removed an engine, and had to remove the cab to do so. but you don't have to completely remove it, so you may be able to tilt the cab and slide the engine forward.
Remove Loader
Remove FOPS
Tilt cab
Drain and remove radiator
Disconnect exhaust, air compressor, fuel line to fuel filters...
I drilled and tapped a pipe thread plug for future EGT while the turbo was off. Then plugged the hole with a stainless steel plug. When I eventually got around to adding an EGT probe I didn’t have to worry about getting the chips out while drilling.
No. This is not heat shrink tubing. If anything, it slightly expands when heated.
I took additional photos of the tool, including the part number. It handles 6-8-10-11-12mm tubing. I install them cold. Alpine is correct, a person can drill a stepped hole in a piece of aluminum and achieve the...
Have you checked that your auxiliary circuit is turned off? The most heat will come if some valve is halfway on and forcing the pressure through the pressure relief.
{edit} remember, fluid only flows between the pump to the valve stack and back to the tank unless a valve is actuated, so focus...
I have extras because I figured someone else would run into the same problem I had. $5 to your door if you want one. PM me.
I posted a picture of my tool on page 204. Couch posted a picture of his on page 203. Picture of...
I have been doing some digging within the Case Parts system because someone asked me about seal kits.
FWIW, The backhoe is not truly off of a 580D. The 35C backhoe has its own entry in the CASE parts catalog which lists mfg from 1/88-12/94. This has better overlap with the 580E which was made...
This is an open center hydraulic system, so if nothing is being used, the fluid circulates through with minimal resistance and returns to the tank. There is very low pressure in the system until it is used. Pumps create flow, the load determines the pressure. If you move a valve, the fluid is...
Bel-metric is great, but they do not have this very part! 6-4-6 reducing T. I finally found them in England and ordered 5. $5 shipped to your door if anyone wants one.
I am partial to the hard lines used by Mercedes because I don't like how rubber lines age. I was also lucky enough to find...
Looks beautiful. Nicely done.
Personally I never soldier wires on vehicles as the solder makes them more likely to crack, the reason OEM’s do not solder connections. However the use of heat shrink will help support the wires and reduce this.
Better check that. I think the tool circuit is run off the last solenoid valve on the loader circuit. Hence it is run off the front pump.
Mine didn’t work(wiring issue), so I switched wires from the loader up/down to that solenoid to enable the tool circuit.
I have a 200 mile used trans that I bought from Expedition Imports before I started parting out my FLU. Will sell for much less than I paid. Does no good sitting in my garage.
If you tilt the backhoe, you may be able to reach the pneumatic cylinder that actuates the 4wd. It is spring loaded to 2wd, but you may be able to wire it in to 4wd. My personal opinion is , if you are stuck, the 4wd will only get you deeper. 16000lbs on 4 tires will sink. Try the backhoe.
