Look under your intake manifold and see if there is fluid in the valley. Sounds like the injector pump might be leaking. Once you get the air out it's fine, but after sitting it builds up more air. My 1009 did that and it got worse til I got the IP rebuilt.

I'd suggest taking the radiator and getting some quotes on prices, I've had a couple of mine repaired for less then $70.

If you go this route, make sure it's an isolated relay and not grounded through the relay. Same principle as the doghead starter relay mod.

If it's the original radiator, you'd be better off getting it repaired as the replacements are thinner construction. Also repair is much cheaper then replacing.

If you do try that method, I'd replace the radiator cap afterwards. Don't see how that could be good on the seals. It probably won't hurt it, but rather safe then sorry.

Unless I'm mistaken. The pump should be the same as a J code pump, but the top plate will have to be swapped because the HMMWV uses 24 volt.
