My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

No problem Dwight. John Winslow sells new and used parts for deuces, 5-tons, etc... I will more than likely be down there next weekend to finish up some odds and ends on my truck. You are welcome to come over. I'll show you around and even put you to work ;)

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

Thanks Mike. Progress has been slow lately since I am working in WV and the truck is still in NC. I was down there a couple of weeks ago and worked on the truck for most of a day. I was having some overheating issues and needed to do some work on the wiring. The overheating was caused by...

    2010 Haspin rally BS thread

I am hoping to make it this year. I'm in WV now so logistically, it should be an easier trip for me. My brother, Chad aka oldvw2, wants to come too. I'm not sure what truck will make the trip. I have a good bit of finishing up to do on the 5-ton (not to mention driving it back to WV from NC)...

Bought an M925 in HI... should be fun

I'm glad you got it all worked out, Justin. Looks like it is coming together nicely!

    CUCV...good idea for college student?

A 1008 or 1009 CUCV is a great college truck. Chicks dig 'em. I got a 1009 when I was a sophomore in 1995 and drove it on a regular basis through 2003. I had a blast 4-wheeling in it with my Jeep buddies. I started with a bone stock truck, added 2" Skyjacker springs, and some 33" swamper...

    M939A2 Filter Numbers

A photo filter ID post is a neat idea. Thanks Jason. There are a few other 939 filter lists floating around here. I'll try to find them and merge some more info with this thread. Here's one of the transmission filter in the pan.

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

I got some more work done at Winslow's yesterday. I got there around 7:20 and immediately went to work stripping a few more parts off of the donor truck. I was waiting on Joe CrashAF and his buddy to show up. I was going to help Joe pull some parts off of the donor for his 936A2 wrecker...

God doesn't want me to go to Winslow's

Slacker!! LOL, your parts are still waiting on you, Mike.

    I need some help

Correct. I forgot to mention that the transfer case side of the equation needs to be in good shape for the air switch idea to work. The other nice thing about the air switch is it tells the air actuator on the transfer case to stay engaged all the time, not just when the truck is in a certain...

How low can an M925 get?

The M939 truck runs 11.00-20 NDTs or 11.00R20 Michelin XL radials. The M939A1/A2 trucks run the 14.00R20 Michelin or Goodyear radials.

    I need some help

You can also install an air shift switch in your dash and run the sprag actuator air lines to the valve in the dash instead of the one on the transmission. Some members on this site have done that conversion. I just used John Winslow's wrecker the other day at his salvage yard and he has his...

    Deciphering M939-series Serial Numbers

Here's a good resource for figuring out the SN on your M939-series. This was orignally posted by Terry on M939 Series Mod Tracking. Thanks Terry.

    I need some help

It sounds like Chuck has you started with your trouble shooting. The only thing I will add right now is the model number your Dad gave you is actually the Operators Manual for the truck. I highly suggest downloading the Op. manual and the complete set of technical manuals for your truck. It...

    HEMTT Update

I agree! You have access to a great fab shop! Once you camo them the will blend right in with the rest of the truck. The body lines match up nicely too.

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

Thanks Dwight. I feel like the US Postal Service of old. "Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep me from my appointed 5-ton work session." :) I actually Duncan, it's an automatic so pushing or pulling with it in gear could do significant internal damage to the tranny. I...

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

Pics as promised! The first few are of my hydraulic motor rebuild. I took it all apart again in order to replace all of the o-rings and lubricate it with petroleum jelly as directed. It is a good thing I did because the check valves had water contaminated oil in them and were pretty gunked...

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

Thanks Bill! I had a good work day yesterday. There was around 6-8" of snow and ice on the ground, but thankfully the sun was out and it warmed up into the 30's pretty quickly. I focused on a lot of little projects to make it road legal/safe. First thing I did was install longer 1/4" bolts...

    My new M936A2 project (update)

Nice camo job, Jason! Did you chalk it out using the TM or are you free-handing it from photos? I am headed out now to work on my truck. It's only 16* out so that should be fun.
