Most states require any trailer over 3500 lbs gross to have operable trailer brakes with a break away device. That being said I towed my 7000 lbs M146 trailer home without brakes with my M818 because GL seems to want to demil all of them by pulling out the air brake lines when moving them.

I have been wanting to do this conversion on one of my 10k gensets. If I do it will become a dedicated standby genset for the house. Imagine not having to fill the tank every few hours. :-D
I almost forgot. If you are putting a bed back on it a M105 trailer bed fits nicely on a bobbed truck? You said you are planning to bob the deuce down to two axles right?

My thoughts are try to save the bed and specific fire truck equipment. Love the show. Catch it every week. Most of us are purists here but I say do with your truck what you want. I look forward to the build.
