    Power Steering Possibility?

this has been discussed several times over the years. my view is that putting additional torque through the old steering box to turn the wheels, is just begging for it to fail.

    Air Assist- OPINIONS wanted

if you have to buy one new, then the hydraulic power steering kit is actually cheaper, and much better. as to being bolt on installation, true you do actually have to drill 5 holes, but everything else is bolt on.

    12v grounding/wiring question

for the price of another battery and the hassle of keeping it charged, just get a vanner equalizer.

    1971 m35a2 lights cut out

you don't have a short, you have too much load on the 3 way switch. have you added any lights, etc?

    Turbo ?

remember fuel = hp. so if you add a different turbo that allows you to burn more fuel, that may be. i seriously doubt that the turbo alone will add any noticeable power. turning up the fuel rate will add power.

More engine problems (Documentation of testing fuel system, failure of Hyd Head)

no, EGT would go down with less fuel. there is no such thing as a lean condition in a diesel, just low power from lack of fuel.

Deuce Over Heated Today. Low On Coolant?

the head gasket leaks can be so subtle that they often are hard to detect. you can 'sniff' the rad with block√check test fluid, or with an emissions tester. block√check is best.

    hot rod deuce and half

I just want to buy it.

Ross HF54 Power Steering in my Deuce

Your springs have had 6500 lbs sitting on them for 40+ years. just need new springs!

    Why 2650rpm max?

These tires are so close to the same size, 14.5R20 has a loaded radius of 21" Ok, so at 2500 rpm with the OD kit and 14.5R20 mph = 67.35, changing to 395's increases it to 70.56, 3.2 mph more. I think you will notice a little less power on hills, but on the level it will just about not matter.

    Why 2650rpm max?

how tall is a 395? or more to the point for accuracy what is the loaded radius?

Ross HF54 Power Steering in my Deuce

wandering is usually related to not enough toe-in, in this case with such big tires you need 1/4" even with radials. i flipped the top shims which required some redrilling as i recall and the axle housing now looks really yilted, but it works.

Ross HF54 Power Steering in my Deuce

seth, i can't find it right now, but i had a link to a moog web site that listed every TRE in the known world. so the choice was fairly easy. the play in the wheel is the big reason i did not like the old ross box. since it uses a linear valve and not a modern rotary valve there not only is more...

    M35, 2.5 Ton Front Springs

i thought i remember that when a winch was installed, 3 extra leaves were added.

    Why 2650rpm max?

thanks guys, I was at least 3 years late getting the OD to market and a lot of people started going to bigger tires. Demand has been a lot less than anticipated, but I didn't do it to make money. Probably have an a/c compressor mount kit in the spring.
  16. m-35tom

    Why 2650rpm max?

exactly! plus there are affordable solutions. trans OD kit is probably less than bigger tires and does not sacrifice performance but even larger tires on stock rims buy some more speed. speed is expensive any way you do it, given that to make the truck safe at a higher speed there are other...

    Why 2650rpm max?

many people confuse high volume pumps. they think it is something special or something very desirable. they could not be further from the truth. you can add a pump that will pump 4 times the volume, but in reality most of the time the oil pressure regulator is just dumping the extra oil back...

    Lamp/Bulb wattages

I think the twin filament is so if one fails you still have some light. as to wattage, of course P=IxE, P=wattage I=amperage E=voltage so you can measure and select a locally available bulb. just don't get a Lucas bulb, the magic smoke might not be compatable

    Why 2650rpm max?

original max rpm was 2200 when used in a tractor (white) increasing the rpm is always a case of diminishing returns higher rpm always = lower reliability shorter engine life. on top of that there is no good reason to ever run more than 2500 rpm.

    Transmission pukes oil from input.

of course, there is probably a reason spicer wanted 5 qts of oil in it or they would have put the fill plug lower.
