That Block was OK I checked it at the same time. I think I found the Frame Ground Problem I was looking for. It is on the Starter Negative and the Braid going to the Frame. I will have to wipeout my neck and get to that to clean and re/do. I think this could be the charging problem? Maybe like a...
Ate lunch and did the test over again with the truck warmed up seems to make a difference. Before, starting the voltage was high 31.50 VDC. Shut it off waited to measure the Alternator Voltage later after lunch. Started the truck up Batteries were 13.54 VDC @ Front Pair and 13.87 VDC @ Rear...
I will measure it in a few and see. Also see if things have changed any on the voltage. If Voltage Regulators were not so expensive I would just part change for a test!!
OK this is getting better all the time! I was a Journeymen Electrician in 1977 and did the trade pretty much all my life even became a Commercial Electrical Administrator. That is the hardest test of all. Just never got into Electronics which is a different trade. So I learn as I go on some...
My TH400 in my Old 79 Chevy quit on a hill with a 11K lb trailer dragging the truck backwards on ice for a long ways till I ditched it to stop. After that tranny quit??? So I ordered a $1,300.00 rebuilt one shipped to me. I decided while waiting I would look into my old 40 plus year old...
Tomorrow I get to work on the truck. Did do a hooked up Volt Lost Test on the batteries just the way there hooked up and engine off. Read the voltage 1 hour after shut down yesterday. That voltage was Front Pair 12.66 VDC, Rear Pair 12.88 VDC total 25.54 Volts. After 24 hours Front Pair 12.46...
I will look at those today when I get back from a day of Side Job Tractor Work so I can buy more parts! Thanks I will check my voltage on the Batteries this morning after sitting all night. I will make a note of it. Checking for current draws while off?
There are hoses under the Air Pump Box and the Box itself can leak and drop close to that area. A fitting on the side of the box can be loose and under pressure it will squirt like it did on the back of my cab!! Remove the protection cover off the top of the pump assembly then have some one pump...
I saw those working on the Cab Latch I will look at the connections tomorrow. Maybe it needs a Voltage Regulator? For all the connections all you have to do is Bump the Start Button and it fires right off.
I was going to go to only 2 batteries and save the other 2 for Jump Reasons if needed. They would stay charged but not used unless needed. Just Isolated Charged Spares inside the Box
Did a test tonight and came up with this while engine was OFF with charged batteries the front two are 12.59 VDC and Rear 2 are 12.78 VDC adding up to 25.32 VDC total. Then started engine Voltage Front 2 was 13.53 and Rear 2 are 14.19 for 27.58 VDC Total Charging.
Tested it under Load...
OK I will measure the voltage now that I am done (I hope) with this part. Forgot to write it down so I have the right numbers to look at. Thanks for all the help.
Yes I already measured that and was wondering myself? The rear 2 are both at or near 15 volts. They are getting higher volt charge rate. One nice thing is my Transmission Low Voltage Code D-1 = "13" cleared itself when the voltage went up. Bet the Speedometer does not jump around now. I...
There is only one hydraulic hose going to the Cab Latch. If it is still leaking you need to check the inside O-Ring make sure it seated and no pieces of the old 0-Ring was left in the groove. Just went thru this on mine. The inside one is the hardest to clean out and install. My O-Ring was in...
It is so nice now Charging right and just connections causing the problems. Washed up the engine at the same time I added a extra neg cable to the frame. Added 2 new 2/0 Cables crimped them up. I will heat shrink later forgot it in town! Much more balanced putting the 12 v cable in that was...
No Parts to Buy is even better! OK I disconnected everything and clean brite all cable connections, threaded posts and negative on the Alternator. Both ends of the frame ground too. Did a test for voltage it was all over the place?? Shut the engine off hooked it all back up again. Started truck...
