Looks like it should be handy. I don't see why they wouldn't have just done a pneumatic cylinder if it functions as you describe. Pressurizing oil with 90 psi air gets you 90 psi oil. Any idea what the capacity is?
I was screwing around with the crane tonight. Used it to load the M105 bed I sold.

I also used it as the latest carnival ride. I call it the Peter Pan. Is it safe? Probably not.

Somehow I wasn't paying attention and missed this thread. A buddy from work was up there with his jeep and said "yeah, there must have been a military vehicle get-together, there were a bunch of deuces and mutts off in the distance. I never got a close look at them."
Glen, as previously mentioned, I will be there in late April/ early May I will be in Nebraska on business and plan on extending my trip to see my folks and swing by your yard again. Unfortunately I am flying back, so I can't haul many goodies for myself, but maybe I can help you pull and ship...
Made a lot of progress this weekend. I started with 318lbs of 2x4 1/4"wall tubing and welded up a framework bolted to the M105 chassis. Then I mounted the 070A crane (with the 17 ft reach) to the frame. I was going to bolt the crane to the the frame using some grade 8 7/8" all thread...
Attached. In the first and third picture, you can see cut-outs on the front and top of the crane frame which I *assume* would be for a version of the crane with powered outriggers.
I have two. One is an 070A with a 17ft reach, one is an 070AW with a 23 ft reach. I am keeping the 070AW for sure. Pretty much have talked myself into keeping the 070A as I think it would be awesome to mount in a shop down the road. For now it is going on the trailer chassis.
They are...
Made a little more progress this weekend and had one near disaster. I have settled on mounting my spare crane on the M105 chassis so I can use it to move the deuce bed and second crane around while I do that project. I am getting tired of having to borrow the telehandler from my work.
I...
Last week I picked up an M105A2 trailer I won at an auction last month. Had two brand new tires on it, so I will swap those over to the deuce, pull the bed, and put one crane on the frame. Seeing a 105 up close, I do not want to put it on as the bed behind the crane on the deuce, so I am back...
I had a diamond tread skid plate on my 4-wheeler, I got stuck on many object, in part because it wouldn't "skid"
That said, it does have a very practical purpose. On my 69, I had a tall piece of firewood get wedged between the ground and that frame crossmember. The fuel line was run along...
Also, in my experience, the way to drive these trucks is not simply pedal to the floor. My 69 would leak from every orifice when I did that. I found if I drove a little more sedately at 50-53, it stayed clean.
Well, I painted myself in a corner. I have an M105 Trailer I need to pick up at Havre De Grace, MD by Thursday. I was planning to do it with my M35A2, but I am in the midst of a turbo swap and it appears the turbo may be lost in the mail. Does anyone have the capability to do a pick-up...
Seems a little extreme to say it is only good outside of a vehicle. Yes it can go bad, but the likelihood in a sealed plastic drum with minimal air(if that was the case) is smaller. Before you pitch it, you could send a sample off to be tested. When $200 worth of fuel is on the line, that...
Not on a CUCV, but I bought a used car a few months back. I have been doing oil sampling to stretch out my oil change intervals. Thus far it is looking like I can run at least 5k mile intervals. And, having bought the car used, it gives me peace of mind that the internals are in good shape.
Found it. E Diesel Home
Look under the publications link. I have talked to Dr Hansen at conferences during my graduate work. Nice guy. There was also research in the 1980's on using ethanol injected into the intake like a gas engine, then using a minimal diesel injection as an ignition event...
I like ethanol, and I would not do it. It will not mix without an additive. Also the lubricity would be concerning without an additive. That said, ethanol has been run in diesels and reduces the smoke because of the oxygen content. I will try to find some of the papers.
