Official 2014 SS Georgia Rally Info SSGR14 thread

I have a couple of tripods available. I also have a Canon 5d MKII and a range of lenses that takes some nice stills and video. I'm definitely better with still photos, but I'd be happy to set up wherever I'm needed.

Look up 73m819's posts earlier in the thread. He is THE wrecker operator at the rally, he'll help coordinate any wrecker assistance you need, and asks very little in return.

Sure, it's legal to OC, and usually it's not a big deal in my opinion. However, when some kid can't keep his fingers off his piece and decides to constantly fiddle with it in front of his buddies while pouring liquor down his throat, I'd say management or the group would be justified in asking...

To Remember: Operation Market Garden 1944

What a turn out! I was always impressed at the quality and quantity of MVs I saw at European events. Thanks for sharing.

ever wonder what your ride looks like from the air?

I looked to see if any aerial photos caught my MVs at the places I've lived since 2009 when I bought my first. The google car snapped my old 5 ton at my parents house in MI. My Deuce shows up at my place in KS, the satellites caught me twice in the year I lived there. I can even see the M66 gun...

M 134 minigun replica build, Terminator style

Looking good! I remember seeing that Predator/T2 (I believe it was the same gun) live mini gun for sale about 14 or 15 years ago. It was listed at only about $200k. Got plans for your replica, or is it just for personal satisfaction?

Great reviews. I'll probably sleep in the back of my deuce. That's what I did last time. It's very convenient to have camp ready to go upon arrival and nothing to pack up when it's time to go. Staying in the back of the deuce is good livin'. After staying at a remote rent by the hour hotel in...

    Correct color for field equipment

I've seen 60's - 00's stuff painted this color. Era doesn't matter much with this type of gear. Seems these items have been the same shade of green for decades. I had a quart of flat Behr Ultra mixed up today at HD based on their analysis of an inside piece of my NOS field desk. It looks pretty...

    Correct color for field equipment

I have a field desk I need to touch up as well as some wooden boxes I'd like to paint to match the field desk, does anyone know the correct shade of green to use? It's the same color for wooden footlockers, field safes, field desks, etc. I've painted some wooden items with rapco spray paint and...

I want to rig a PLGR to a Tough book and use a RAMS mount to create a moving map....

I may have a PLGR antenna cable for you. I'm still not unpacked from my recent PCS but if I find it it's yours. I also have a PLGR dismounted carrying case if you you want it.

Yup. It's a simple serial interface to send NMEA data to a PC. If I recall correctly it's the same for both DAGR and PLGR. DAGR serial to PC P/N is 987-5012-001. A good resource to check out besides the TM is Brooke's comprehensive coverage at PRC68.com.

    surplus helicopters?

I've seen a bunch of CH-47s come out through GSA within the last year or so too. Many looked rough, but based the info in the auction (and the price) all looked air-worthy.

That's some great looking terrain. Looks like some of those two tracks and hills would make for a fun drive in a deuce.

Sure enough. The up-side is it's close to D-town. The down side is it's Ft Gordon. Completely understand on the seals. It's no kind of fun to do that on a regular basis.

Not riding trails!? Come on Mike, we've seen how you punish your 818 on trails, you can give some hip pocket training on getting a 5 ton unstuck when we have to get your 5 ton unstuck. :-D Kidding of course. You don't have to get a driver wristband if you're not driving trails. You can get a...
