Glass, that could be a NTDR or EPLRS antenna base. NTDR is 225-450 MHz and EPLRS is 420-450 MHz. The element for an AS-3900 is almost the same diameter, but none of the three interchange. Hard to tell exactly from a distance, but if it has a part number or NSN we could tell for sure.
I really like seeing a different sort of project here on SS. That is such a cool little machine, I look forward to seeing the progress and especially the end result. Good luck with your M32 resto!
TheTM 11-5820-890-10- series has at least 10 volumes. They all end in -1,2,3,4… and so on. Just google it. You'll get hits like this. PRC68.com is also good source. Brooke at PRC68 figures out how things work and posts the results so it goes beyond the TM, but it can difficult to sort out what...
I had the opposite problem. My HHC commander uncovered piles of old VAAs at a FOB in Iraq and I had to quickly secure them lest some of our Stryker crews start using them in place of their INCs. In theater it wasn't too much of a problem, but in garrison the crews would yank all their comms out...
Good point with the VAAs emmado. Usually not an issue with the 1523 series when using SINCGARS for voice only, but it may be an issue with 1439s and newer VAAs or INCs.
W2 is the RF cable that goes from RT to amp. W4 is the RT to VAA for audio and data. ;-)
You'll also need a vehicle amplifier adaptor (VAA). The radio will function without an amplifier. You don't need the amplifier itself, just the amplifier adaptor as pictured below.
You'll need the coax to go to from the VAA to your antenna base. Either the AS3900 or AS3916 antennas and their...
I remember Mike Yeck in Dundee had a DUKW sitting outside his building for years. I didn't see it in the auction earlier this year. I wonder if it stayed local.
It's neat seeing a Milan resident on here. I'm from Milan. Welcome to the SteelSoldiers.
I didn't realize what forum I was in. Disregard my earlier reply, I was thinking of the same issue in a Deuce. I don't know squat about CUCV's. Carry on.
Gotta love that military canvas scent. Funny how that smell triggers a lot of memories every time I climb into the cab of my deuce. Better than new car smell.
Are you looking to cover the entire truck or just the cab? I keep a OD canvas tarp over my cab to keep the weather out and keep the roof from fading. It works pretty well and cost about $60. The canvas tarp has weathered far better than I imagined, even after a summer under the GA sun.
To keep...
What's the story there? Got a link to that write-up?
I just put a 500w pad heater on my oil pan today. I couldn't get the deuce started last week in 20 degree weather, so I'll see how it does after a quick addition of an oil pan heater and two battery heaters. She cranks about three times...

I don't recall if this is the post Gimp was referring to, but it was my top search hit.
I've had AVMs on my truck for awhile, but I haven't even come close to working them hard. Of course I've had zero issues.
I drove past a M35 and a M36 in a motorpool on Fort Gordon everyday from 6/2011-6/2013. They didn't move during my entire tour, but they were still owned by uncle.
This is big news. Haven't you been working on yur deuce for awhile? Seems like I've read about your very meticulous planning and exceptional fabrications for quite some time. Why the change to a 5 ton?
Wow. No auto insurance at all if you're under 25? So if you're under 25 how does it work, can you drive at all? No off road vehicles at all until the age of 30? TV tax, no firearms, no knives… Did the push to get glass banned from pubs ever gain any headway? I remember reading about that a...
You can own an M2, there just aren't enough to go around, and they're expensive. When is the last time a homicide was committed with a legal M2? Never. Let's lower the bar and ask how many homicides were committed with any legal MG since 1934? The answer is two. Yet they are still regulated...
