    correct GPS for HMMWV ?

In non-FBCB2/BFT equipped trucks they could be mounted as a stand alone handheld only connected to the vehicle for power. If a GPS was in a vehicle mount it would usually have an external mounted as well.

    correct GPS for HMMWV ?

Most of the military GPSs would be accurate. The HMMWVs service life has spanned the service life of nearly all handheld military GPSs. The most common variants are the AN/PSN-11 Precision Lightweight GPS receiver (PLGR) or the AN/PSN-13/A Defense Advanced GPS Receiver (DAGR). The Magellen...

Thousands of HMMWV may actually be sold to public; not a rumor

That would be cheaper than current HMMWVs. I can't imagine they could go that low and still turn a decent profit. Wasn't there a mostly legitimate HMMWV kit offered by AMG out there that was going for $65k+?

San Antonio to Ann arbor Mi (in progress)

Nice looking deuce. How did or does that train handle? Might be cold now, but Michigan is a great state and the Ann Arbor area is nice. I'm from a few minutes south of there and I miss it.

They also don't have a main gun.

    Finally......

Congrats on your new truck. I wouldn't mind seeing a photo of that remote brake res quick disconnect. I have a similar set-up but without a quick disconnect. Sounds like a nice addition. Your new truck will inevitably leak, but not to worry most of them aren't anything unusual. All you have to...

Brand New MRAPS Being Scrapped - A Sad Day

Ahab, I say why not. I've seen ex-military subs for sale. Why not an old DD, BB, or CG if you can afford it. They're probably available now if you have the money. Remember the DuPont M113 purchased directly from FMC? If an individual or corporation had the finances and motivation to purchase...

Brand New MRAPS Being Scrapped - A Sad Day

Ummm, you cant own a tank? Since when? Better get the word out quick. There are many privately owned armored vehicles out there. Including dozens owned by members here on SteelSoldiers. MRAPs are not a threat to the public any more than the armored vehicles already out there. When is the last...

Atomic Annie and Two Prime Movers

Exactly. Talk of muzzle energy is usually reserved for hunting and defense loads. Hence the smiley face.

Atomic Annie and Two Prime Movers

But does the 4.2 million grains of projectile weight equate to 58.3 million ft/lbs of muzzle energy, or should you figure propellant weight to calculate muzzle energy? Or do you factor both. I'm a reloading dummy. Either way, a 280mm shooter has some serious "knockdown" power. Hmmm, 9mm, .45...

Atomic Annie and Two Prime Movers

809 series 5 ton. Great photos thanks for sharing. I saw that drip bucket as well. A lot of displays I've seen were drained, or had running gear in a horrible state even if the exterior looked good. Those transporters looked ready. I wonder if they would fire up. The M386 transporter looks...

need help identifying electrical/comm stuff in S250 shelter

The 6224 will take 115/230 VAC in and output 24-28 VDC at about 25 amps. I have most often used them to power tactical radios in a dismounted (non-vehicular) configuration. You can power anything from VRC-12/RT-524 to PRC-77 to SINCGARS, EPLRS, PSC-5, PRC-117, BFT, FBCB2, PRC-150, PRC-104 and so...

need help identifying electrical/comm stuff in S250 shelter

The PP-6224 AC to DC power supplies look nice. 6224's were/are fairly standard in a lot of applications, both in and out of shelters. But I haven't seen exactly that variation before. The LS-147 intercom is another piece I recognize. They were used in a number of different types of shelters...

Replacement Engine LDT 465 Multi Fuel

Nice looking engine! But this statement kind of makes it sound like your buddy stole it. Contrary to popular belief, active duty soldiers don't just "have access" to stuff. It's either issued as a recoverable or non-recoverable piece of personal gear or it's likely stolen. Everything...

    Safe canvas snow load?

While stationed at Ft Wainwright, AK we made it a habit to sent Soldiers to the motorpool to clear snow off vehicle and trailer tarps after a snowfall. I don't know the snow load limit, but It's undoubtedly a valid concern. I have seen roof tarps and bows collapse from snow.

    M66 ring mount TM

I bought an M66 back in December but I haven't installed it yet. Still need to paint it. The document posted above isn't the TM, but any TM that covers the M66 doesn't go into the installation details as well as this does. I feel comfortable taking on the installation and getting it done right...
