Notify the DoD IG or National guard IG about the fraud, waste, and abuse. Perhaps they'll prompt the state AG to initiate an investigation and keep that old iron from rotting away.
What unit still has that on their property book? Seems like if they're going to let it rot they should turn it in so it can go to auction and find a loving home. Perhaps your retired Colonel or BG friend can convince them to just turn it it.
That may be the worst trip I've read about on SS. But sometimes the most difficult trials are the best memories when you look back. You were tested and you got through it. With that said, I hope your luck improves and everything starts coming up Average Joe, you earned some respite.
I can't recall a dedicated maintenance HMMWV with a helmet top. In 15 years of service helmet top HMMWVs I've owned or seen have overwhelmingly been leaders vehicles. Not to say they are never maintenance vehicles, but I think it'd be incorrect to associate helmet tops with maintenance or high...
Deuce-coupe got it. The HHC 003 part s correct as well. As he stated the 003 part May or may not be correct. Rarely does a unit follow any standard bumper numbering scheme so close that you could tell what section it belongs to. 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team is a Georgia national guard unit.
The M903/M963 SLAP/T has only been around since the mid to late 80s and is probably produced is much less quantity than ball or AP so I'd bet there is a smaller stockpile and it gets rotated faster.
A lot of the ammo stocks we've had for decades has been used and replaced during our combined...
Looks like it's dated 1990. Here is a photo of LC .50 brass dated 07, and from the orientation of the LC and the 07 it appears yours is 90. However, since ammo can stay in the supply system for many, many years yours could have been in service much later than 1990.
Can't you just drive over that little hill in your FV432 or one of your trucks? Make a beer run (or wine run?) in your APC and be the hero of the town!
Kind of fun being in extraordinary circumstances like that. Good thing you're prepared. Hope your neighbors are as forward thinking as you are...
Firedog, nice truck! Where did you recover it from and where did you drive it to? Make sure you list your location, it's a SS membership requirement. Congrats on the new Deuce!
... from my personal point of view, get an ugly girl to marry you.
No wiser words were ever spoken than those of Jimmy Soul. But getting a wife that makes as much or more than you is good too.
Here's some photos of how it's done.
Also see the first hit in a search. The US two piece mentioned in the thread is usually sewn to the front and rear loops on the US type can holder. If you find the two piece type they're usually already sewn to the can holder, or cut from the holder and no...
They are all great vehicles! I appreciate them all. The nominee list for the first MV of the month club reads like a top 12 list of all the vehicles on SS. So hard to choose, but Proud American got my vote not only for what it represents, but also for how great it looks and for how much effort...
Of course they didn't. Why would they? Manufacturers manufacture, that's what they do. DoD asks who can make the item to meet the specifications and in the quantity required. The private industries within the military industrial complex are more than happy to oblige. That's capitalism, and for...
I watched a Marine M818 roll down a hill at a very small camp in El Salvador some years ago. As it rolled from the motor park down hill into the ditch that bisected the camp, the Marine jumped from the cab. From my perspective it looked like he **** near rolled into the path of the truck right...
Roll your cuffs in if they have buttons on them (BDUs) when putting up Camo net.
I've put up tons of Camo net and rarely had a problem with the three piece battens. The only time I recall any issue was when a large net was weighted down with heavy wet snow.
Aluminum poles are superior. In...
Good score, M135s are just cool looking trucks. Looked like a fun recovery, low threat but still required some ingenuity to get the job done.
Nice Power Wagon too.
Not an A2. A2s are readily identifiable by dips in the the front fender corners where the marker lights are mounted. Looks like an A0 or an A1 with the turn signal lights removed.
