I've seen video's like that and what some of these folks did is truly a piece of art, better than what you can buy commercially. I don't need a trailer for the deuce but I want one so I can convert it into a camper. I've been wanting to do that for a while. I could use a regular trailer, but the...
Now that's is as good enough reason or one of the most bad a$$ reasons to do what y'all are doing. Make that truck the idea of a family get together, all you brothers work on it until she's worthy once more to carry our vets. That's a good thing you guys are doing.
Get yourself some 14 gauge...
I second what the others said, but a buddy who knows a deuce will be the best bet. If not, maybe see if there is a local SS member around, reach out to them and see if they can assist, worst answer is a no. If you're still not sure, have the seller take a video or a bunch of pictures of the...
The upside is people stopped tailgating me, lol. I guess they don't like their car or truck getting hit with stones and mud when it falls off every time I hit a bump.
You still can yes. Like the previous post said, you just need to be careful of what you run. My motor still has the fdc hooked up, but I run wmo mixed with diesel. Just make sure whatever goes in that fuel tank not from a fuel station has been filtered well. There's plenty of threads on here as...
Doesn't hurt to check the grounds first. Make sure it has good contact. If the clicking still continues, maybe check the solenoid if that wasn't rebuilt as well. If you're not familiar with the YouTube channel Tactical Repair, he has a video about the starter clicking before it finally starts...
Congrats buddy! The maintenance and work put in is half the fun, lol, but it'll be worth it when you start driving it around and feel good about what you have as well as being safe while doing so! Keep us posted, I'm looking forward to see how she turns up at the end.
I agree. With a quick search on here, there are some nice trucks in that price range and some that are much less, all from respected members.
I suppose that's probably the biggest reason. Seems safer and looks way better with the MRAP rims and adapter plates to me.
I'd trust a fellow SS member before someone off Ebay or the like. Bill has been a member for a while and he's posted a lot of the work he's done. It's well worth a look.
I would check the classifieds here. There was some nice trucks under 10K. Don't be afraid to drive out of state if need be, makes for a fun road trip. I drove 700+ miles for mine and so have many others. Just be patient, you'll find a nice one for a good price.
She's an old and used war horse. If you can take some clear close up pictures of the bumper on the sides where there are numbers painted on, someone might be able to read all of them and give a bit more info like previously stated by NDT.
If you're not going to restore it or keep it for...
I had that issue on my old deuce and the same results from the so called experts at the parts stores. I've found some o-ring gaskets at a local hardware store but in the mean time, I put a nice blob of black Permatex on the top and let it cure for a couple hours before reassembling. It did stop...
Yes, most definitely! The thought of having to remove and replace one of those tires can be intimidating and especially so to anyone who has never worked with big tires like that before. Another reason I'm glad to see a post like yours, I know if you can do it and how you've done it, it helps...
Wow, just read your whole post so far, you've been busier than 2 beavers in heat with all that work! Lol
I like the 395's myself, they are pretty good tire when comparing to the NDT's, not sure about winter yet as this will be my first, but way better off road and on road.
I also just wanted to...
I read that story years ago, it's an amazing story what he did and the stuff he went through. The fact that he had help from active duty military members help fix his truck, the young men that helped him, the crazies that shit at him...what he did is something all of us want to do with our MV...
I would agree with most of the advice on here. If the truck barely ran, like any vehicle, moisture will build up in engine, maybe not enough to create any milkiness in the oil, but enough for some steam to be worked out. If you check the radiator and if it has antifreeze in it, if so, keep note...
If the gauges are clean and the switch is on the brightest setting, I saw a YT video where a guy filed a small slit into the plastic housing that goes around the light bulb, allowing some white light to come through and it was significantly brighter. Maybe an option for you? I'm not sure if...
