That's in a whole lot better shape then the M38A1 I picked up and am in the process of restoring right now. Looks like a great find. How bad are the fenders? I'm gonna have an extra set in a lil bit, they need a lil work though. Hit me up when you get to that point if your in need. Good...
I'd talk to him also. Could be kindness or sinister. Also maybe he "borrowed" some fuel and then he felt guilty and decided to put it back. Do you know this neighbor at all?
Talk about being the man under pressure. I'd hate to have to sit in front of one of those committees and get hounded. Hopefully they can come up with a smart and reasonable answer that is acceptable by the subcommittee. Our county has used HMMWVs here during floods and they came in very handy...
Post #2 picture #8 The guy standing on the sewer cover, at first glance he almost looked like a toy solider from the high view. lol
Excellent Parade and the pictures are great!
Welcome,
Another thing not mentioned yet, do you want it to be military? If so you need to make sure it still has two batteries and two alternators. Also if buying from an individual, find out what all they have done to it so you will not have to figure it out the hard way. I concur with...
Here is a cheat sheet I made for the CUCV.

The left Bumper should read
209th RSC
450th CBN
The Right should be
340th CC
This line would be platoon and vehicle number i.e. 3 100 or HQ 105
Not 100% sure on the CBN and CC or if they would add a space after the C. Our Trans company just had 000th TC
355th Signal Command, 209th Regional Support Command, 450th Chemical Battalion, 340th Chemical Company

This is the big question. Has anyone started a group to try and get things changed? Things can change but there has to be enough desire to get it done. I also would like to know who has tried and get some of the rules changed, not just the normal response of "It's not gonna happen, enough...
For short term, I'd just wire brush it down and put some Rust Fix on it and prime it til you can fix it right. No point in spending time trying to bondo, just to have to take it all off again in 6 months.
Okay, well after looking at them more and more, I decided to try and drill out the welds. It was actually a lot easier then I thought it would have been. The plates came right off. Now I'll get some bolts to hold it together and weld the weld holes back up. First gotta clean the lower plate...
Well on the passenger side I think that could work, but it is extremely off on the driver side and would requite being almost half the size. I think I'm gonna call the supplier Monday and see what they say. The bad side is that I ordered them a good while back, but we will see.
Well I decided to mount the motor and trans today and get them on the frame. But I just realized my motor mounts don't fit the frame right. The V on the bottom of them is too deep and they won't sit flush. I'm wondering now, are these CJ5 motor mounts? I did find one thread where I believe...
Well I'm thinking right now about bringing the deuce, M151 w/M416, and probably the M1009. I'll bring the camo net and stuff for a toc set up. I've got a friend in Bon Aqua that said I can stage stuff at this house the week before so it should just take me two trips to get everything there...
Welcome from TN.
As for "Night Vision", I'm guessing their talking about the blackout lights. Right above your driver's side headlight is a Black Out Drive Light. This is a light that emits a very low visibility light for driving in dark conditions. To the naked eye it is just visible when...
