    New plow for the M1009

Amen to that ! Nice setup. I've thought about taking an old rusty M1009 I have removing the body and putting a pick up cab on it. Then I would just fab up a little steel bed and put a plow on the front.

    Transmission Swap

The 700r4 was first available the same year the 6.2 was first available 1982. I had (2) 1982 K-10's with the 6.2 700r4 combo. I would go with something heavier duty than the 700r4. I am gathering info to do the 4L80e swap. Good luck on whatever you choose.

    Neighbor issue's here in WV

Not too many people are willing to try to work somthing like that out. That would be too easy and possibly neighborly. I try to respect peoples rights and help out where I can. Sometimes hard to find that in return. I had complaints about my "junk trucks" all running and PA inspected mind...

    Neighbor issue's here in WV

I would get it legal as soon as you can. Then there is nothing they can do. My township where I live tried to fine me $ 8,000 dollars plus costs. When we went to the district justice (judge) I told him the trucks were legal he then witheld his verdict until the twp supervisors could do a...

m1008 wierd fuel issue, help please.

How many GPH is the pump ? The trucks I speak of idle and run around town great. It is out on the highway at top speed they seem to be running out of fuel at the high end. I would love to know the GPH rate on the newer normally aspirated 6.5 Civilian trucks that used the frame mounted fuel...

    M1008 rear axle

One other tip I would make sure your vent line is clear. The end has a plastic cap make sure it wiggles around, the hose is clear, and the steel tube that enters the axle casting is clear. I have seen the vent where it enters the housing rust/plug completely shut and the pressure has to exit...

m1008 wierd fuel issue, help please.

I have a truck I was having problems with air getting into the system. I converted it to an electric fuel pump. That mod fixed the air problem, but now I have a surging issue at speed. I feel the pump is not high enough volume. I also encountered this with a civi 6.2 truck that the previous...

m1008 wierd fuel issue, help please.

Are you sure the solenoid is turning on and off ? Or is the truck just surging ? If it is surging, I think it sounds like fuel starvation.

    TH400 problem

I didn't see an o-ring with my filter kit. I'll have to look again. The o-rings I purchased are a bit thicker than the one that was in there. As long as I can get it in there it should make a better seal. The o-ring that was in there was way looser than the the one I pulled from my junk...

    TH400 problem

Thanks all. I went to my garage and dropped the pan. The filter must have dropped. The o-ring on the plastic tube seemed pretty loose as the plastic tube about fell out of the transmission. On this truck the filter was retained by a bolt and a spacer. Should the bolt have a washer where it...

    TH400 problem

I have a TH400 transmission in a new to me M1031 giving me problems. It appears to have a gov't rebuild tag up around the bellhousing. I got the truck ready for PA inspection. It was running and driving good, but when I started to pull a long steep hill it started slipping in third gear. I...

X2 On my M1009 one evening my headlights were working on high I went to dim them they went out completely - went to put them back on high nothing there either - My first thought was hi lo switch on the column. Had another known good switch - still nothing. Turned out to be the connections at...

    burnt fusable link?

Hard to say from here, but I just had a CUCV that I purchased from GL with what looked like a brand new starter. The starter solenoid failed and burnt the fusible link. I replaced the solenoid and the link and it works great now. Good Luck

New CUCV owner 86 M1031 Contact Maint truck

I lucked out when I purchased my M1031 as it had a copy of the manual for the Wisconsin powered Generator. Funny thing is it is an actual M1031 CMV with the PTO powered generator. The manual was not a lot of good for that truck, but I have since acquired a M1028 CMV with the Wisconsin...

    M105 p/u

I understand the plate. I think the military rated that with the trailer loaded properly (load in the bed centered over the axle with a little more weight to the front) Not the same trailer flipped over on top of trailer with said plate. The M105 has a lot of weight in the front. More...

    M105 p/u

Please explain how the tongue weight would not be doubled. If the trailers are lined up with pieces of tubing in the stake pockets you would have 2X as much weight in front of the axle as hauling one M105.

    M105 p/u

    (2) M105's pushing and not having trailer brakes on winter roads could be a scary prospect. Tongue weight would be double- meaning less weight on the trucks front end for steering and stoping. I have hauled two on my 18' 10,000 # car trailer before. Much less tongue weight and brakes.
