How does a 366 BB compare to a 350 SB in the fuel economy area. Also how much more torque does the 366 have ? I have a ex Air Force Crew Cab that has an unknown condition 350 SB. Maybe the 366 would be a good conversion for it. Thanks for any info.
The truck is a M1028. The M1028 has the NP208 the same t-case as the M1009/M1008/M1010ambulance Other M1028 variants and the M1031's have the NP205 t-case. The rear axle is a corp 14bolt Full Floater with a Detroit locker. The front Dana 60 has a limited slip unit since it is a M1028. Not...
Man only three in the state. I have more than that in my driveway and its a small driveway. LOL - Nice truck by the way. Note that the glove box is different for an Air Cond vehicle. It would still work for you, but would have less room. A non AC glove box would not fit in a vehicle with...
I have a 1979 Chevy 3/4 ton with a Dana 44 front with 8 lug wheels that I am 110% sure came from the factory that way. The dana 44 and GM 10 were hit or miss in the late 70's.
The vac lines are easy. One line comes from the vac pump at the rear of the engine (Where the distributor would be on a small block Chevy) to the Injector pump. From the injector pump a short vac jumper goes to a steel line that runs along the top of the passenger side valve cover down the...
I guess I got lucky when my M1031 front wheel bearing failed. The outer bearing exploded - welded the inner race to the spindle, the inner adjustment nut snapped in half. It did ruin the spindle threads so I had to replace that but at least it came apart pretty easy.
3/4 ton 8 Lug Front axle GM 10 bolt
1979- I've seen 3/4 ton trucks from then on with GM 10 bolts up front (with 8 lug wheels). That said I have a 79 with the D44 with 8 lug wheels. I believe that was the change over year. It is pretty safe to say if it is 1980 - 1987 3/4 ton with 8 lug...
I have State Farm on all of mine. Some are on my personal policy. Some are commercial since I use them for my business. I have had some issues with State Farm getting the VIN right. The military vin has a different letter since it is military and was not in the state farm system. They...
I'm with the other guys as far as the belts go. They can be tight and still squeel. They get old hard, glazed, and worn skinny. I would recommend quality replacement belts - I usually get mine from NAPA their brand is usually manufactured by Gates. The thing to watch out for when installing...
Here is a link to another thread with pics of two trucks of mine hooked together with a military medium towbar. You should use safety chains between the two trucks. They have not been added yet in this picture.

T_F_E spending about 5 mins on checking a return check valve is about as cheap as it gets. Gives you a pretty good indication of pump health- if it is clogged with black or brown debris its probably time for a new IP. If the ball is knocked out chances are it was clogging and Previous owner...
I just replaced an injector pump with the problem I described yesterday. It surged at idle and ran down the road about like an old Holly double pumper with a bad power valve. At steady throttle it would surge. With the replacement Injector Pump in runs real nice.
The IP return check valve is screwed into the top of the injector pump it has a rubber hose attached. Remove the rubber hose unscrew the valve it may be plugged or it may have had the ball punched out. The ball is clear so you may have to carefully insert some object to see if it is still...
