Brake drums lock up over the years when rust builds up between the drum and shoes. Yuma has not gotten snow in 30+ years and we had about 1 inch fall 4 or 5 days ago. That is more than what the usually see, so it's a lot of water for us. I can't work in the mud, so I am stuck inside until things...
Yep, they are 1 3/8". He also sells them NOS for $14 if you buy 12. He thinks they are also different from the US cylinders in that the Canadians got rid of the goofy aluminum expanding ring inside the cylinder, and used the traditional everyday style spring/cups.
I have no idea why GM went...
Not much to update. Some good news and bad news. The good news is now that I have my wheel bearing socket I've started my brake work. Brake shoes are all within spec except for 1 which was cracking in half! Thanks to Topo here for sending me some in a few days off a parts truck!
The bad news...
My god Dave, you are a genius when it comes to computers! I posted that part # above. Atleast it's good to know that wheel cylinders will always be available once the originals dry up. But I don't know many people who want to pony up $35 each for them. Oh, except you.
Member Topo here...
No luck. I tried NAPA today and he couldn't find anything. I guess the question now would be, is minor pitting on the pistons and expanders acceptable? I think it is, since any sealing is done with the cup. Not the pistons.
That is correct. The M105 trailer (not A2) wheel cylinders are the exact same wheel cylinders as those on G749 trucks. Same part number and everything, WC15306. A quick google search turned up plenty.

Alright, we know NAPA has the GMC wheel cylinder cups. Part # United 14451.
Does anyone know if they carry the pistons, expanders and push rods too?
Guess I'll take a trip to NAPA tomorrow.
That is the coolest vehicle I have ever seen on all of SS. You have just set the bar higher for a lot of us, who's holy grail once before was something like a M125 Mack or HEMTT.
[Note to self, spend retirement money on an LVT4]
Nope, never been panning in my life. Although I hear AZ is great for it, and with the price of gold going up it's becoming more of a temptation. If you have any questions on the truck must give me a shout and i'll PM you my phone #.
I don't believe a reminder buzzer would be necessary. I will be placing the reverse shifter shaft lever for the transfer right beside my 700r4 shifter. There will be warning stencils placed on both shifting consoles (hand made) that indicate how the transfer should be shifted. With the handbrake...
Not much to update.
-Brake work has begun. Air pack is in pieces for a rebuild
-Air compressor awaiting rebuild
-Brake shoes are looking great, but found 1 with a cracked body. Scary.
-Wheel cylinders all look to be in excellent shape despite age. They'll all be rebuild.
-700r4 is being...
Good luck with your project, post lots of pictures and take your time.
The transfer case is often overlooked on a lot of power swaps. Good on you for thinking about it! From the factory, the transmission and transfer were both shifted at the same time, via the shift tower. When the shifter arm...
