I think it was stumps here who once said, "Everytime I have the urge to buy a 5 ton, I move an old M813 brake drum I have across the yard once or twice. The urge dies pretty quickly.
I hope Dave does this. Had I not opted for the 6.2 I would have definitely looked at a 6.9 or 7.3. Bulletproof engines and easy to acquire. FWIW, Tom at Alfa Heaven did the 700r4/6.2 swap in a few M211's. He said he hauled 2000 gallons of water at 75mph routinely, he loved the setup. That is...
Ummmm. I put a NON turbo 6.2 Diesel in my deuce. It weighs more than most W/W M35's.
Lets talk turkey here. DO THE DAM* SWAP! Seriously. Most of these repower threads are full of the usual "it won't work because.." BS. I am tired of it. Seems somebody will give you a hundred reasons why...
Dave, just wanted to let you know I have not forgotten about the air cleaner. Just getting some other things paid off. As you can see it worked out great!
The truck may weigh twice as much as a loaded M1009, but it also has axles geared twice as low, a permanent 16% under drive in both ranges...
It's a heavy duty K case 700 which were used on most 6.2 applications. HD 32 spline output with 4 pinion planetary.
My uncle is bringing it down by the end of the month.
It is a Np231C which denotes Chevy, the drivers side drop was uncommon. It came from a 1992 S10 with a cracked block, and is the reason why this was pulled.
The torque converter is a B29 and is rated for a 1654 stall. Should be about perfect.
Thanks for the oil cooler info per our PM OF. Always a wealth of info! Let me know what you find on the radiator, it's certainly old but is in good shape.
Just sealed the deal on the 700r4/Np231. It will be a few weeks until I can pick it up in Phoenix. Traded an old Marlin 60 and $80 for it. :D
I researched it on a Chevelle forum about a year ago. The conclusion I came to was that it was a 1967 or older Harrison. Most had tags on them but mine is gone. The top tank has a couple letters stamped into it, and the top of the tank has a small metal tag showing the serial number and "Lebo...
Thanks for the pictures OF, you can see in the old pic below that the radiator is already mounted within the center of the grill. It can only moved forward another 3/4". I will have room, but things will be tight. Worst case scenario I have to use a few tricks up my sleeve to make a few more...
Only thing I could use Seatyger is a rebuild kit for my compressor!. :D
I got an email this morning, he said it measures 46". I asked if this measurement included the yoke, and he said he thinks it does. But I will have it double check Friday and be absolutely sure on the measurement. If you...
Boy, this day keeps getting better! They all look great, Dave! I would be happy to call any of those tops mine. But I am especially digging the one in picture 3 with the intact side glass. The one with the bullet holes is creepy (are there brains splattered over the inside of the top)? But I...
Guys, I have the chance to pickup a very nice HD case TH400 for $150. It has a custom made heavy duty adapter plate on the rear for mounting an NP205 behind it. So it would need a transfer case to go behind it to drive the GMC tcase.
Should I spring on it? It's coming out of a rig that was...
I think you just need new cups and dust boots correct? I have no idea who sells the kits. But they're probably pretty common parts to any large GMC of the era. I was told reusing the pistons, springs and the other bits is fine if they are not pitted or anything.
I sure am trying guys. It still needs a lot of dough and time. And I have a dog that needs to see the vet for his shots and check up. I was hoping to get this done by Christmas to enjoy the cool weather, but it will probably be another summer roast of Gunfreak25. I really try not to think about...
