BTW, thanks for all the compliments again everyone. And a special thanks to Seatyger for letting me keep the fuel pump! I had picked up an excellent condition M211 fuel pump but I had no use for it, so I sold it to Seatyger. After being paid, I found out i'd need the pump after all since the 6.2...
Oh no! We can get starters down here everywhere. $120, brand new in 24V. I just haven't gotten around to ordering one yet. I was told the motor runs great so I wasn't too concerned with testing out before installation or anything....knock on wood......ouch....don't say knock.
I thought the hard...
Ahh, the first thing nanny staters outlawed was common sense. Spray paint fumes are a lot less hazardous to your health than all that liberal hot air they're breathing in.
Holy crap! Thanks for the link, was amazing reading. Especially the part about the 6.5 having to have all stock components. That is not the 1st time I have heard him stress the importance of keeping the compression ratio as high as possible for the most efficiency. Just amazing stuff right...
I thought you GMC nuts would get a rise out of this. It's called a Futurliner passenger bus. These were made by GMC Truck And Coach, the same people who made our GMC trucks. Powered by the same (nearly anyway) 302, the exact same Hydramatic but also backed by a 2 speed manual for a total of 16...
I just stumbled onto this vehicle today online. Wow! A 24,000lb truck all powered by the GMC 270. The spec sheet states 91hp and 216ft lbs. Gotta love the old school way of thinking and doing things, small motors and lots of gears to get the job done. We are spoiled today, 500hp 1 ton pickups...

-Matched 383 CARC green...
BTW, the parts arrived a few days ago Dan! Thanks a lot! The glovebox doors are most certainly save-able. My grandfather is already diving into the Medical book, you have a sick sense of humor. Actually my uncle started as an EMT and now he's been working in one of Phoenix's largest...
All buttoned up! The 6.2 sitting all cozy in it's new home. The process of hooking everything up and plumbing things in begins. **** I need a starter soon! The drivers seat was reupholstered 1 year ago this month. It sure is COMFY.
Seeing these pics was a real morale booster.
Finished putting the brushguard together and reinstalled the old radiator. It's a 60's Chevelle type. Only a 2 core, but seeing as how a 6.2 only makes 150hp and they generally run much cooler than a gas motor I think this radiator should be sufficient. I have 4" of room for an electric but can...
You just sprayed that paint, give it 1 month to cure and you will see what I mean about it being resistant to anything you can throw at it. The only thing that would harm mine was Stripx paint stripper. Oil stains seemed to wash right off with dawn, hot water and a scrub brush. I had a puddle of...
The engine may only produce 130hp, but these GMC's had a 15:1 reduction cone on the back of the Hydramatic for low range. Pretty darn low gearing. And they have a much heftier spring pack then the M35's. Both great vehicles, but if I was looking for a truck to haul lots of weight, i'd take a GMC...
