I did this a couple months ago and haven't had time to post it.
I wanted a strong drop hitch and didn't want it to be a permanent fixture and this was my solution.
So now a standard receiver is at the correct height and sticks out away from the vehicle to prevent the trailer binding during...
Sorry the pictures didn't load properly the other day, so I reloaded them, hopefully they will stay this time.
When it happened I was close enough to a parking lot to pull into without damaging the wheel. Then had a family member bring the tools necessary to put the spare tire on. 2 hours...
Well....... I now know what it feels like to have a major Blow out on the front drivers side tire at 50 MPH in a M1078A1.
It was very manageable! Just a sudden drop and very little pull on the steering wheel. Despite all the worries. The worst part is changing the tire and being unprepared to...
You are correct and thats why I always bind the jeep down by compressing the the springs as much as possible when ever I haul it, and is a general rule for hauling anything. The goal should be to prevent your load from any potential movement. But the majority of the jeeps weight is below 4'...
Finally had a chance to engineer and build a set of aluminum ramps for loading my jeeps into the back of my M1078A1. Here some pictures.
Its a 1995 jeep YJ on 37" tires. The total height is 11' 8". When loaded it lowered the M1078 by 1 7/8". The Jeep weighs close to 5,000lbs.
The Ramps are 12'...
So the second batch was destroyed when they were at the powder coaters and the powder coaters shop burned to the ground. Crazy bad luck! But the third batch is all done and looks good.
These are completely hand made one at a time by me and in small batches of 12.
I start off with 24 gage 304...
Any body watching the Fox News special with Sean Hannity in Louisiana reporting on the terrible flooding going on?
They are touring the area in the back of a FMTV!
Sad to see all the devastation there but great to know GREAT neighbors and communities are still alive in America! My prayers...
Sorry I missed this post, would have responded sooner. I originally posted this on the FMTV forum but they moved it to ELECTRICAL.......

Along with all the fluids being drained it was also missing the batteries and the battery cover. Keeping with the thought of easy servicing I wanted to use a common battery. After doing the research and some measurements I decided to go with the more common battery and used 4 of the Group 31C...
Thanks, I'm in a very rural with the closest truck supply, being 60 miles away so I was hoping for a single supplier with good descriptions that we could all go to with confidence and order them.
I agree, but got frustrated with trying to find a supplier of them the dot connectors. NAPA lists them by part number with no size specs. i kept running into dead ends.
So I went with what I found at Mcmaster.
Do you know where to find them without the wild goose chases?
