I finished the horn Install. That has got to be one of my favorite upgrades yet. It brings a smile to my face every time I push the horn now. No more old VW Bug sounding horn.
It has a good tone to it, not Extremely Crazy loud but VERY loud.
Here are some pictures and a parts list. I know some...
Thanks suprman, but I didn't do a good job explaining the picture. The broken piece is in my hand and the primed area is the part I made and welded on.
I found the tab broken off of the drivers side air bag lock down the other day. Just one more repair LOL!!!
The broken piece is to the left in my hand, I made a new one and welded it on then primed it.
steve6x6x6 I tried sending you a PM but your box is full.
I live 45 minutes south of you in Wauchula, FL, and interested in changing the gears in my M1078.
How could I get in touch with you?
CRUISE CONTROL and FOG LIGHT SWITCH install.
I started off by wanting to install 3 new switches in the dash For Cruise control and fog lights and ended with removing all the dash components, steering column and side steps for painting while I had it apart.
Here is the gage panel with 3 new...
My M1078A1 built in 2003 History, Purchased from GovPlanet September 2015 as a non runner all fluids drained, no batteries and a huge hole in the front left tire.
Picked it up from Hurlburt AFB, Florida.
I've been working on it ever since.
I'm late at starting this project thread but I wanted...
Thanks for everyones help. My impatience got the best of me. It took 30 minutes on the lathe to make two new ones out of black Delrin.
I should have done this in the beginning and it would have saved me all the time researching and writing this post. Lesson learned!
Here is a picture of the...
I agree with suprman and going to get the air from a tank. I would hate to rob something else more important of air while blowing the horn. After taking a quick look under the FMTV I found that the air tank closest to the front has a threaded hole that is plugged and would be a good source.
Help please, I broke the little plastic piece during removal and want to find a replacement. Been searching for this little......whatever its called on the web and can't find the proper search term for it, it would be nice if Mcmaster had something close to it. What is the proper name for it...
This one from the MRAP already has the 24volt solenoid with the military connectors already on it. So I just need a good air source for it. Where did you get air from?
I bought a new MRAP air horn to replace the wimpy horn. I've searched around and can't find a thread on this subject if there is please point it out. If not I'll post my install here.
While I'm waiting for delivery, does any one have some good advice on where I could get the air supply from...
Mine came with the metal grill but I could tell the air force had replaced the old one because it was just the original flat green paint with no camo black and brown paint.
They didn't transfer the stewart & badge over to it and after months of failed attempts getting my hands on one I decided...
I'll try to help out with the wiring but understand that this is based on my Gen1 Evaporator unit and that you should only do this if you are qualified and fully understand the system. Don't take what I say as fact for all circumstances as yours may be different and you should always verify you...
