    my m923a2

I have ridden in a Deuce once, but it was about three and a half years, ago, long before I got "hooked". (No, that ride didn't "hook" me; it happened way later). But yes, they are rough-riding and loud! Funny thing was, until then I didn't know WHY there was that high-pitched whistling sound...

    my m923a2

Especially since I'd likely be living on a dirt road that doesn't get plowed unless one of the homeowners takes the initiative, and the firewood chore... Now, how about driving between Alaska and Califronia twice a year in a Deuce, or better yet, a M923?

    my m923a2

Travel plans...cross-country road trip in a M923A2? That sounds like a fun adventure in the making! I'd love to do that sometime I've literally considered having the idea of a 923 as a daily driver. Granted, I may end up with a Deuce, as a daily driver, and weekend-ly 100-mile each way road...

    Looks good! Daily driver?

Put the old girl to work

LOL agreed. When/if I end up with mine, the firewood chore will be one of its many jobs!

    Hello from Interior Alaska

Interesting vehicle! I might be moving to Fairbanks/Delta Junction in August. TB58 was a great resource on the Fairbanks area, too!

    Hello from Alaska

Welcome from another Alaskan member! Where exactly is Butte?

    Went to Mow the Grass

Interesting. Is it the tin-roofing-sided structure in one of the pics you posted? It's interesting how different things are in different regions of the state, here in the Southeast park of Alaska it's all wet rot with as much rain as we get! In fact, the house we're looking at in Delta...

    Went to Mow the Grass

Oh, Alaska has plenty of freeway too!

    Went to Mow the Grass

Sounds like a fun Deuce road trip! Seeing your location...I might be moving to Delta Junction around August-ish myself, and possibly be a Deuce owner by then. (Found a place there we might buy). Question: do people hate seeing Deuces on the freeways there with the relatively low top speed...

    Newbie/POSSIBLE Future '71 Deuce Owner, from Alaska/California

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I'm getting more and more excited LOL.

    Newbie/POSSIBLE Future '71 Deuce Owner, from Alaska/California

Good news! Still on the proverbial radar as a project. Current owner is in the process of selling their place in Port Townsend, WA, where it currently sits. He has a rent-to-own tenant there apparently in the main house. Since the current owner of the truck is thus moving out he's there...

    new guy from Northern california.

I am not all that familiar with Paso actually! I had friends who lived waaaaay out Stockdale Road though.

    new guy from Northern california.

@Kloakndagr, wow Paso Robles? I grew up in Atascadero. I occasionally come back to visit, would love to meet up with other MV hobbyists in the area...

    New from Alaska

I'm also another Alaskan member, who plans to be living in Fairbanks for college, starting next year. Looking to get a Deuce or 5 ton and have a possible '71 Deuce project in the works, but always looking...for a 939 series 5 ton.
  16. 71DeuceAK

    new guy from Northern california.

Congrats! If you don't mind me asking, where specifically in nor-cal? I lived in the more southern part of nor-cal, in Atascadero (San Luis Obispo county) and plan to move back there...

California Title Registration Diesel Smog Law and GL loadout info for M35 Deuce 5 Ton

Yeah I totally sympathize with not creating yet another "Do I need a CDL?" thread...there's more than enough of those already LOL OK another total idiot newbie stupid question: What is a spring pack and what does it do? (Yeah, I'm that ignorant LOL, but been reading as much as I can and trying...

California Title Registration Diesel Smog Law and GL loadout info for M35 Deuce 5 Ton

Interesting stuff! So if I'm understanding the CA DMV website correctly, with a class A I could legally drive a Deuce, but is that a type of CDL? My understanding (Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken) is that the 2-1/2 ton M35 Deuce is supposed to fall under the gross weight requirements...

    Newbie/POSSIBLE Future '71 Deuce Owner, from Alaska/California

Thanks! Eventually I'd like to meet some AK and CA members.

California Title Registration Diesel Smog Law and GL loadout info for M35 Deuce 5 Ton

So what I still don't understand is:  What's the registration and smog loophole (if any) for a M35A2 Deuce or M939 series 5 ton as a daily driver/commuter car and personal workhorse (firewood, trips to Home Depot for lumber) but nothing commercial (not a tour company, not for hire, not a taxi...
