My brother in law once used an M1009 to tow a enclosed Uhaul trailer with a bunch of beercans (he collects and sells old beercans) from MD to Pittsburgh, PA. He had to cross several mountains...fairly large by our standards, but nothing compared to what you are talking about. His truck...
WM has a great suggestion regarding the seat cushions. The batteries are available commercially if you want to go with the standard 6TLs or you can buy commercial equivalents that will fit in the box. Just take measurements.
I accidentally put my truck in reverse in low range once...it was the first time I ever got into an M939 series truck and it was already in low range and I had to back it off of the trailer. Nothing happened. If you were just idling or even applying very limited throttle, you'd be fine...but...
Guys want to believe what they see and read. I bought a truck once that says RUNS. Well, it did run. However, they never mentioned the clunking noise. There is no way that should have been a truck that they touted as RUNS. At best, they should have said RUNS, BUT SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE LEFT A...
Here's my take...$300 is too much. I have a very nice, straight from DRMO (back in the 90s when you could get nice ones) trailer with no mods or rust that I offered to a guy for $750. He decided he did not want to pay that much and I decided to keep it. THIS IS NOT A FOR SALE THREADvas the...
I think you will find it very difficult to get a unit out of RED DOT. They don't want to sell to civilians. Even Oshkosh does not want to sell MK48 parts to the public...or so I have been told by BBF...even though they WILL sell Oshkosh parts for the HEMTT. Go figure!
I believe the OP said the truck was uncut, but I would still look carefully for any cuts. One place to check is inside the battery box as sometimes the horizontal cut would be through this location. Make SURE it is uncut. A friend bought an M151A2 that was supposed to be uncut...he found out...
You will feel better if you have another driver with you. A tow bar would work, though. Make sure you have nice heavy safety chains...I'm talking like 3/4" diameter...to make sure the truck follows you somewhat in case of a tow bar failure. Good luck! :driver:
A truck without a title is going to be a headache. You will most likely get a title for it, but it always concerns me why the truck does not have a title. I have had trailers without titles. Personally, I am not concerned because I'll just scrap the SOBs before I let them worry me (not to...
Great looking truck. Love the rubber on your truck, too! Did the truck come out with those tires? I've never seen an A3 with those tires before, but they look awesome!
Can you take some pics of those straps that wrap around the first and fifth bows? I have a brand new cover on my M925A2 and my GMA cover does not have those straps. I am wondering if you are thinking about the straps that hang down to allow you to roll up the front and rear integral end...
Are you talking about how to secure the top to the bows if the sides are rolled up? There are straps that either hang down from the elbow (bow corners) on the canvas tops, or, on vinyl tops, there are integral straps that hang down that latch back to loops on the outside of the cover. If this...
I completely hear you. I am relieved that we can at least get historic tags, which was in doubt with the previous bill. I still am PISSED that they were able to move this along in a special session...but they did the same with other, uhhh, agenda items to keep this from getting political.
This is not exactly true. They did pull an end around on us, but they did not proceed with the full spirit of the originally proposed bill that would have ended historic tags for any vehicles over 10,001 GVW. The big change is that you can no longer tag a deuce or 5 ton that is under 25 years...
