My LMTV has more holes in the floorboards than I want to deal with. I am going to replace the rusty parts. So when you remove the rusty parts and you are going to install the replacement. How do you prep/seal the exciting structure/flanges. I am not to sure what it's called but the parts that...
I have been searching and I see a few ideas. Has there been a consensus on how to treat the floor? After I deal with the rust and before I put stuff back together I want to add something.
Thanks
If its a A0 truck it's a Caterpillar part. The 24P part number is (Cat) 109-2988 and the NSN is 6680-01-433-1894. I believe the CAT cross would be a 5R8832 but not 100% sure.
Can't speak for an A1 truck
Thing is I don't see any holes that would line up to that other type of handle... strange as ever picture I have looked at has the other handle and not what I have.
I would recommend that you crimp the connector instead of soldiering it. There is a good chance the wire will break if soldiered and you won't see it. I work with MS connectors on a daily bases and have seen many broken solder connections in connectors. I have not seen broken wire with a crimped...
the TM says to remove the P81 connector and jumper the wires. This will remove the thermal switch function altogether. Sounds like a mod that should be done to every FMTV out there. From reading sounds like this switch gave some issues so they just eliminated it. If you truck does not have the...
No problem... it's what I do. I try to do most of my own work down to rebuilding a starter. The only thing is I found a nos 03 starter for 189.99 shipped. I can't buy parts for that price.
As stated yes they will. You will have to adjust the hold down on the fender (bracket thingy) to match the height. The bracket has 2 sets of holes to allow for height adjustment. You will also need to move the rods to the appropriate place. Look at the top hold down and you should see the holes...
I personally would not use 6TL in a CUCV. The battery holders have a tendency to rip away from the fenders. The added weight of the 6tl just makes this happen at a faster rate. Group 31 batteries also fit in the holders and are a tad lighter. I use Group 31 in all of the CUCV I has and never had...
The TM says to discard the old bolts. I believe they stretch too much to use again. Also use a gasket.
Gasket is a Cat part 3K3257

Looking at starters I have found two part numbers M0017703ME and M0017705ME. It looks like the 03 is one with the thermal protection. The 05 is one without the thermal protection. I believe the only actual difference between the two is the 03 has 2 different parts, the brush holder has a thermal...
