Another great person reinforcing a great hobby.
I really wish I had done it 2 years ago when I first saw this thread.
And in the true form as...
Mark,
Do you have more pictures of your tailgate?
Both of mine have a sheet of plywood screwed to the inside. Yours looks a lot different. Maybe an original production. Do you have an early VIN / Serial# on that goat?

slide the trans over them.
This will support the weight of the trans on the engine.
Place the strap from the hoist/crane around the back of the trans, but not on the...

If worried you could always unbolt the starter from the engine, and test your wiring with the starter laying on the on the ground.
Being held down by your foot, or a cinder-block.
But usual way is to place the...
Simp5782,
I am going to borrow your ideas for the spare tank.
I like the return line cross-over from the new tank plumbing idea.
To dissipate the worry of the 2nd tank pumping to the engine maybe use a check valve coming from engine to #1 tank...
The transmission is a standard GM SM-420. The remote shift tower is the part that is unique and more important to try and salvage.
If you do not know already, there is a stickie at the top of the Gama Goat Forum that has historic & new part info from the now Defunct Gama Goat website.
Good...
