I probably have the most expensive 1009 ever : I bought an M109 shop van turn-key ready (well, if it had a key ) for $ 9500 + $4500 for the super single A3 wheels & tires, then after working it 2 years traded straight across for the 1009.
Reminds me of the ol' guy looking to rent an apartment. A sign in front read "No vehicles over 1 ton" "Heck, my Cadillac weighs more than that" he sez.
Its not intuitive, but if you get a radio + external amplifier then the radio shop will actually lower the radio output power so as not to overdrive the amplifier input. Its the secret to not getting that distorted gobbledygook sound at the listeners end.
I dunno...I've seen civilian cranes set up with two steering axles....maybe start with one of those & switch the cab + other stuff out? Then you only need an Associate's Degree in Redneck Engineering.
I have the window guards off the truck now (2/11/12), I could make some tracings and measurements for those of you who have the skills to make your own.
Thanks, my wife likes it...she just "took it over" from me this weekend. I stripped off the window guards and the top, she took it for a spin and declared " Its mine now...you can have the Jeep." 8<)
I stay outta the mud, especially that gooey stuff in Alabama...you could have twelve wheel drive and not get out of that . Didn't we just see a couple of 5-tons with SERIOUS tires on them stuck in mud?? I dont need no more convincin'.
Air conditioning. I was looking at about 30 1008s n 1009s, Jack sez "They are all the same price, pick one." Of the 30, two had air, so I got one of those.
Maybe start with the going price for a civvy of the same year and tweak from there? I dunno, are the M-series worth more or less than civvy? Completely different market ?
That the impression I get when I nose around the internet, that I'm asking too much for mine. Maybe I'll sell the window guards and air conditioning separately then price it competitively.
I use airbrake line.
I did find that standard brass ferrules didnt work correctly as they did not allow for the engagement of the nut to fitting. I carefully, with a dremel tool, cut off the back part of the ferrule and that worked.
