Humvee M1114 rear right signal light issues

In earlier military vehicles they used to add a short flat brass link between the 2 bolts that are used to mount the taillights to make sure both bolts saw good grounds. The HMMWV has ground wiring installed in the harness but that doesn't guarantee that a wire didn't let go somewhere along the...

HUMVEE Speedometer - Removing Old Decals

GOO GONE works wonders removing old adhesive as well as duct tape residue. Do not use GOOF OFF! That will eat the plastic face.

    Waitlight will not go off!!!

I've read both pros and cons about adding the grounding harness and my opinion is if the trucks electrical system was perfect from the factory you shouldn't need to add it. HOWEVER, I challenge anyone to tell me that their system was ever perfect and to detail what the military did to your...

    Charging voltage question

HMMWV alternators came in 60, 100, 200, and 400 amp ratings. Where did you find a 70 amp unit and who made it?

Oil Filter Check Valves Recommended? - 2010 Melton Rebuild 6.5

I've used the WIX 51060 for years and have no problem with them.

    Waitlight will not go off!!!

The important thing is is the glow plug relay de-energizing after its normal 10 second heat cycle? If the light staying on is the only problem its one you can live with but if the glow plugs themselves are staying on then you have to fix that before you do more driving. You can check for...

Drilling through rear airlift bumper to mount license plate?

I drilled and tapped 2 holes in the airlift bumper so I wouldn't have to try to attach nuts somewhere up inside. Been on there 20 years now without a problem. If you want you can drill a third small hole for the license plate light and have the wire securely inside where it can't get hit.

    Loose Fuel Tank Baffle

By the time you drain and drop the tank for the cost of a new tank it isn't worth your time. Tanks aren't that expensive nor that difficult to replace. Permabond 4605 is rated for use on HDEP plastics but if it doesn't work do you really want to have to do this job again if it doesn't hold?

    Hmmwv fuel system issue

Before you start replumbing things you might want to tap into the #54 wire on the top of the IP and monitor the voltage (+24v) there to see if it's steady and not dropping out. That voltage shutting off is how the system shuts down the engine and a bad solenoid or bad wiring will do the same thing.

    Hmmwv fuel system issue

If the cap on the fuel tank isn't venting or the breather isn't functioning it will create a vacuum in the tank that the pumps can't overcome so the engine starves. By removing the cap your testing whether or not that's happening. You didn't include much information about the truck other than...

    Hmmwv fuel system issue

The IP will draw fuel from a full tank but then fail when the tank level gets low if the mechanical pump on the block is failing/bad. Check the fuel pressure with a mechanical gauge on the top of the water seperator housing where the STE/ICE transducer normally lives. You should see around 6...

    Military Electrical Sealant

The Marines used this stuff to exclude moisture from getting into things and corroding them on vehicles that would see salt water. It's kind of a bear when you want to remove it, usually you cut off as much as you can and then wire brush off the rest. It's great stuff for waterproofing hardware.

    O ring for 12 bolt wheel ?

I've been running 12 bolt wheels with #457 black Buna N O-rings in them for 20 years. No problems, make sure your wheels are clean and it doesn't hurt to put a very light coat of grease on them. Fastenal and McMaster-Carr have them for around $10.

    Front right blinker not blinking

Since the signals come thru the hood harness connector I think this would be a good place to start your troubleshooting.

    m1123 front brake caliper installation

You might want to repost this in the HMMWV Forum where it will be seen by more HMMWV owners. There's really no magic to doing this. remove the caliper, spread the actuators and slip the pads in. Then the whole thing will slide on over the disc rotor. There's a great instruction section in the...

    M998 engine and transmission swap

If you go to the HMMWV forum here on Steel Soldiers there are quite a few postings about swapping out the 6.2s for either another 6.2 or the full 6.5/4L80E swap. The 6.5/4L80 swap will give you lower noise levels on the road but is quite a bit more involved. Drive shafts need to be lengtheded...

    No Start

Jason, I ran an 24" section of fuel hose down the edge of the fenderwell to keep it from getting crappedup with dripping fuel. Held it in place with a couple of "P" clamps.

    No Start

nspctr1, Your going to need someone to turn the switch while you stand by the right side of the engine to hear the IP solenoid clicking. It isn't that loud and you want to make sure that what you hear really is the IP solenoid actuating. If you hold your hand in the top of the IP where the #54...

    No Start

No smoke while cranking means the engine isn't seeing fuel. You want to hear the IP solenoid "click" when the ignition switch moves to the "RUN" position. This is the valve that allows fuel to flow during operation and shuts the engine off when you shut down. They're notorious for jamming in...

    HMMWV Headliner thickness & Hardness

Like I said in my posting, I sent them the dimensional drawings that I had and they sent me back finished, ready to install headliners with adhesive backings that all I needed to do was remove the cover paper and stick them in place. These guys are the original supplier and should have all the...
