To get a little more specific, the soft doors simply latch by the inside of the plastic handle engaging a metal loop on the door frame/B-pillar. They do not lock.
Hard doors actually have striker plates and strikers and other assorted hardware. You can fit locks to hard doors. Fitting locks...
Since you're pointing out fuel economy numbers, I wonder what the fuel consumption is in an MTVR? It's a 7 ton truck. Saying that the OP should get an MTVR because they have better fuel economy (for their size) while still getting 6 mpg seems circular.
- The 809's are plenty reliable if you...
I did a search but came up empty.
I vaguely recall seeing a post where someone mentioned buying signal and tail light lenses with "DOT approved" stamped on them.
Obviously the civilian H1 would come with these from the factory but does such a product exist for the M998 composite light fixtures...
@Spitfirebuilder I did wonder what you meant by "gourmet." ;)
Your rig looks great but I might find a better way to secure that spare tire. It's a heavy missile if it gets free.
Are you planning an expedition or extended camping trip with all those jugs?
Cheeze and rice, I had to re-do my reverse lights.
I wanted small and discrete that didn't require cutting rectangles in the body for flush mounting. I found some small, 12-24v LEDs on Amazon. They crapped out within a half-dozen shifts into reverse. You could see the burnt up controller...
Keep an eye out for state agency over-reach. In other words, a state agency places a ban or onerous restriction on something (FMV's) without actual legislation to back it up. That's often the first sign that a bad law is in the works.
For example- In Maryland, there is a bulletin circulating...
Nice! The worst that happens is @TheTrainMagnifiq gets outbid at auction and doesn't lose anymore money. The best outcome is that he gets his truck back for cheap. Seems like a win-win.
Dave Demorrow is a fellow who has been attempting to help many states craft legislation to help keep FMV's operating on public roads.
The MVPA and FMV owners are not giving him the support he needs. He recently attended a hearing in Kansas where the president of the MVPA lives and Mr. Lockwood...
Now there's a good idea. He could get it back at a fraction of the impound release costs.
Yeah, I get it. The guy screwed up. He was taken advantage of and didn't have a solid plan. Can we stop kicking him now and perhaps provide some constructive advice?
Great thread. I've read that there are different types of 10k axles. One has a flat spot on the large, inner assembly, one does not and the boots are different. Is this true?
Are there any visual cues to help me identify 7k vs. 10k axles or do I need to measure the shaft?
What @sue said. LED's operate within a "range." At idle, you're dropping out of that range, below the minimum.
Your generator may be able to be adjusted to keep the minimum within the range.
I'm pretty sure the generator(?) voltage regulator is adjustable but I haven't done detailed research...
I agree.
I currently find myself in an uncomfortable position of having purchased some parts from a "reputable" shop and have not received all of them. Communications went from "outstanding" to "zero."
However, I believe it's important to be fair and give vendors an opportunity to make...
I drove 'em but I was a "twidget" (electronics tech) hauling and deploying towed sensor platforms and comm shelters. I wanted to turn wrenches with our maintenance dept. but they weren't interested in showing me anything. Now I have to teach myself.
