Does the transfer case lever line up with the markings on the label plate? Are you pulling against the end of the slot when holding the shifter in low range?
If so, those are clear indications that an adjustment should be made. I just went through this. Getting the lever lined up...
I'm still planning a coolant flush and a thermostat refresh, but it appears that the hot running issue in my wife's HMMWV is more a case of the temperature gauge being off by 10-15 degrees.
First, I have observed that the engine seems to be running cooler in general, down to an "indicated" 215F...
The search engine will not allow me to use "PVC" in a search due to it being too short or too common.
Does anyone have a photo of the DIY PVC turn signal cancel ring? I want to see how the cams are attached to the ring.
Second question: The TM states that when replacing the front, driver's side...
Took the truck out for a 40 minute drive to get the engine hotter than idling in the driveway so that I could get all the new coolant and DCA circulated in the engine.
Scrounger told me that it takes a long time to heat up that much metal and coolant and he ain't lying. The gauge hits the...
On to the next problem-
From my inspection under the truck, the parking brake is nothing more than a very long rod with a short section of cable at the end at the rear of the vehicle.
Doesn't seem like there's a lot to go wrong, yet I experience times where the parking brake binds badly...
Replaced blown headlight, installed interior rearview mirror, adjusted transfer case shifter to get it to engage Hi-lock and get the marks lined up and lastly, installed a complete reverse light kit and LEDs.
Tomorrow, I'll pressure wash the whole truck.
So, after consulting the manuals the 939's with NHC 250 trucks do use an ether cold-start system (the button you mentioned).
The 939 manuals still show the fuel canister and petcock, so I was correct on that count. Open the valve and ream it out with a bit of stiff wire. Use a rubber strap...
If you've opened the petcock at the bottom of the housing and nothing drains out, you have a lot of crud at the bottom. Open the petcock, grab a piece of stiff wire and stab/swirl around up in there to try to clear it.
I have an M813 truck. I have a hand pump on the dash as part of the "cold...
You don't say if you have the M809 or M939 series truck, but all the 5-ton tech manuals are located here:

The whole filter housing itself simply unscrews if I remember correctly. If it's been on there forever, you might need a big...
Every journey begins with the first step-
I replaced the burned out headlight and selected the site where I'll attach the center-line rear-view mirror. I pulled the gauges and cleaned caked-on dirt from the translucent bodies so that the night illumination will actually illuminate the gauges...
