Here's an interesting twist:
In the state of Maryland, we have a large restaurant chain called Mission BBQ. Nearly every franchise uses a blacked-out M35A3 as a catering truck. They actively operate these deuces commercially as catering trucks.
This bulletin effectively revokes their ability...
Just a note-
It has been pointed out to me, that bulletin ASED-009 is exactly that- a bulletin. It's not a law. It is also very incorrect in several areas.
The MSP is essentially, the ASED "mafia" and they have defacto decided to ban all MV's from public roads by propagating incomplete...
True, but that's not how I intend to operate.
I'll post future comments on the thread in the "MV Politics" forum as it is the more appropriate forum for this discussion.
I dove into my engine to tackle another one of my boogeymen- the belts, hoses and coolant.
I am quite fortunate that my truck isn't a rust bucket. So far, all fasteners have loosened up easily. I have all belts removed except for the water pump. Coolant is draining as we speak.
All the belts...
I was referred to this thread today because I foolishly bought an M998 on December 22nd 2019.
If I had seen this thread, I never would have bought the vehicle.
Here's a fun question: What is the MSP planning on doing about all the MV's currently legally registered with the state of Maryland...
I'm jumping into this discussion because the thread is not very old and I find myself in the same position. Frankly, I wish I'd found the thread before purchasing this M998 for my wife. It may end up becoming an expensive yard ornament.
I do have some experience in titling and registering...
Thanks, Juan. I downloaded the TM's straight from this website and the LO stated HD30. I didn't know that the military had shifted to multi weight oils.
@diesel dave I've always used Rotella in my diesel boat engine and now my 5-ton. I guess my main concern was- Is there any reason not to use a multi-viscosity oil? The TM calls for straight HD 30.
When I start the M998 on a cool morning, it's a bit loud until oil pressure builds up. I was...
I'm a big fan of the "Jeep beep" but I think your idea is a good one. Install the Hella horns for the safety inspection and revert back to the Jeep horn *if* I can make it loud enough.
@Coug
Quick question about the horn- The horn on my wife's 998 works but is rather quiet. It can barely be heard over the engine at idle and cannot be heard at all while driving.
I realize that the OEM horn is never "loud" but would a fresh horn at least be heard while driving? I need to...
I am very unhappy with the new search feature. Rather than open up yet another "What kind of oil do you use?" thread, I attempted to do a search on it.
The search engine returned a result that said "the words engine and oil were omitted because they are too common" Are you kidding me??
So...
I'm researching parts for my cooling system clean-up.
I see a few threads recommending that you omit the thermostat gasket and simply seal up the surfaces using RTV. How serious is this suggestion?
Do most owners do it this way? Does this apply to 6.2 and 6.5 engines?
My truck seems to have...
@Bill Nutting Are you saying that you installed a separate switch or that you tapped into an existing switch?
I'll fuse the converter for sure, but the only thing hanging off the converter will be a USB plug to charge my phone. If my phone isn't plugged in, it's not drawing any power.
In my M813, there is an unused female pigtail dangling from the dash wiring harness.
The wire is #40, which according to the wiring diagram in the -20, is used for "panel lights." The sketch does seem to indicate a pigtail in the wiring harness at that point.
This would seem to indicate that...
