    M35 Esoterica

I don't have the crazy dog-leg switch, I was just curious as to its purpose. If the purpose is to intentionally interfere with other controls as sort of a safety interlock, that makes sense, but I wasn't sure that was the real reason for the crazy switch handle.

    M35 Esoterica

That's Esoterica, not "Erotica." Get your brains out of the gutter. I have an obscure question: Why do M35's have that crazy, dog-legged switch lever on the battery cutoff, rather than the standard switch lever that is on virtually every other electrical control on every M35 and early 5-ton...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I'm still tracking some air system weirdness: When the ambient air temp gets down around 32F, I can *hear* a leak under the dash. It's definitely under the dash, inside the cab. If I open the hood and get into the engine compartment on the other side of the firewall, I cannot hear the leak. I...

Determinining which is in system Dot 3 or Dot5 empty master cylinder

The part about not purging the water by the bleed screw is worth noting and I will take that into consideration. I may end up changing my position, in time.

Determinining which is in system Dot 3 or Dot5 empty master cylinder

I dunno if I agree with this sentiment. Yes, you can pull into any parts house or even grocery store to purchase DOT 3 but DOT 5 isn't difficult to find. It's available from all the common vendors on this site, and eBay. Just be proactive and purchase a gallon to keep in your spares locker...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

A parade of winter storms is going to halt the truck work I'd like to do. Cold and wet every couple of days all the way to New Year's at least. I can handle the cold, but I won't work in cold rain and sleet. Grrr....

Hard to Find Starter Part for 855 Cummins

Couldn't you fabricate this out of any ordinary, heavy braided grounding strap and put bolt-eyes on it? Wow- that's a lot of weight and the truck isn't even squatting. :)

    M816 shackle problem

Certainly an odd problem to have. It must have taken awhile to remove the excess material.

M818 PTO seals and boots replacment

I replaced my transmission oil as well, and also noticed no improvement in shifting. I stuck with GL1 90w just to play it safe with the yellow metal components. I read the religious flame wars in the archives about other types of gear oil and whether or not they are GL1 compliant but still...

Thinking about pulling the Deuce Trigger Again

Somewhere in the deuce forum, is a thread about finding M35A3 wheel bearings and how costly they are (as an example). The A3's were only made for 5 years and are comparatively rare. While the A3 is a desirable model with all its bells and whistles (Auto trans, CAT engine, CTIS, super singles...

Thinking about pulling the Deuce Trigger Again

You guys are forgetting a critical component- cab heat!

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Filter it and give it to someone who uses heating oil for winter heat. Don't go through all the effort to clean your fuel system and then risk putting that stuff back into your fuel tank.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Oh wow, for some reason I thought you'd spent most of your life in Idaho. You haven't been there all that long. Sounds like you're happy there. The mountains and the trees must be incredible. I'll bet nobody blinks twice at your deuce.

    LED lights

LEDs are polarity sensitive. Are you sure you connected the (+) of the LED to the (+) of the truck?

    1968 Mack M123A1C 10 ton Tank Transporter

Ha, I hesitated quite a bit when my transfer case crapped out. There's only so many times you can read the TM before you finally just "do it." Successfully tackling that job has given me the confidence to keep going. Still, I would be very unhappy and pretty intimidated if I dropped a cylinder...

Thinking about pulling the Deuce Trigger Again

As you live in Alaska and will probably purchase a truck located in the lower 48, have you worked out how you will pay to have it transported up there? Has Wes expressed an interest in visiting the Great Frozen North? ;)

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I must admit, I follow davidb56's posts with interest because I've been stuck in urban **** for so many years and he lives in such a remote area. It's pretty obvious that he enjoys a greater degree of freedom than some of us.

    M925 a1 armored crew cab

I'm new to the M/V scene. I bought an old M813 that I really like. I wouldn't do what you're doing but I have enjoyed following this thread and I'm excited to see the final product.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Don't forget to let a little air out of the tires for better traction.

    M939 with tac4

    Fascinating. I love history.
