need hemtt Detroit Diesel 8v92ta mechanic near Sacramento

Wow, that is an epic journey with an epic vehicle. Sorry I don't have anything constructive to offer except "glad you both made it home."

Towing weight equation- Do I need trailer brakes?

Exactly my thoughts. The math puts it in the "marginal" zone. I'll probably end up installing the controller. I will at least feel safe enough to perform some test tows locally, without it.

Towing weight equation- Do I need trailer brakes?

Ah, I hadn't considered the problem from that angle. I'll dig into our state laws and see what I can find. Here we go:

Towing weight equation- Do I need trailer brakes?

Wife wants to tow our Coleman pop-up camper with her HMMWV to campgrounds in hilly MD and PA. I found the XM381 website with the 24v to 12v converter cable. That's awesome. Here's my question: This is not a little, bitty pop-up. It's a Coleman Plantation that weighs something like 2750lbs...

    cooling system spring cleaning

For flushing, hose is fine. For filling, use distilled.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I test-fit the pioneers tools in the rack. All seems good, now to clean them up and paint them. I scored a nearly new Arctic winterization grill cover from the classifieds. It was very inexpensive, so I grabbed it on a lark. Being as the 809's share a cab with the M35's, it fits fine. Next, I...

Do M809 trucks have the same troublesome fuel pickup tubes as the M939s?

What, the Super Trooper has never made a mistake in his life? Sheesh.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I jokingly showed my wife an ad for an affordable M998. She said "I like it. For me?" I was caught off guard for a moment and said "Yeah, if you promise to drive it!" So here we are!

Ha, you guys are very reassuring!

    HMMWV 3-speed reliability

Sweet. Love the stake sides/troop seats on yours.

    HMMWV 3-speed reliability

Even better. Thanks for your reply. Can you believe this is a Xmas gift for my wife? She really wants it!

    HMMWV 3-speed reliability

Yes, I performed a search but all I could find was a lot of discussion about upgrades. Bottom line: How reliable is the 3-speed transmission? I have a lead on a basic 998 in "pickup truck configuration." The truck will see occasional, light hauling duty around the house, pleasure drives and...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I've decided that I don't like the looks of the flexible brake hoses for the rear axle. Replacements on the way. I'll be building a power bleeder. I already have the bug sprayer. I took a leisurely cruise after work yesterday. The truck runs smoother than cat fur on a marble floor. It seemed...

    Simp's M915A1 Build Thread

Wow, the 816 looks like a toy in comparison. Does the 915 have engine coolant heat for the cab or are you without heat since deleting the fuel heater? 22F in Maryland this morning...brrr.

Adding a block heater and coolant filter on 6CTA 8.3

*sigh* I'm convinced. I'll order a spin-on mount and coolant filter before I tackle my coolant, belts and hoses refresh project.

    M35A2 injector pump replacement

I'm not certain which engine you have, but the manuals for them are here: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/forums/the-deuce-tms.113/

    Newbie's First Post

@Lovetofix I also have an M809 series with the T138. Much respect for having the guts to dive into your transfer case. Mine had severely worn output shaft bearings for the front and rear propeller shafts. Only the jack shaft was snug. I replaced the whole unit with a rebuilt transfer case...

Determinining which is in system Dot 3 or Dot5 empty master cylinder

@Elijah95 Based on what you do with your trucks, are you saying that DOT4 and 5 are compatible? Is that how you're able to flush DOT5 out of the system?
