You probably have to convert the connector to a vic-3 style connector. You will need a vic-3 style male and female connector as you need to change the connector on the 2298 box also. I had the same problem. I even ran my Ipod into the system and it was barely loud enough to hear. I was having problems with one of my headsets cables so it may be better since I have fixed that.
