starting a cucv W/O glow plugs

The truck will not start cold even at 75 without the glow plugs. If the truck had been running you can get by without plugs for a while. The compression is too low for them to start without some sort of aid to heat the combustion chamber.

    top speed for m1009

Re: RE: top speed for m1009 rofl :driver: Do you know how fast the ticket would be written if some one gave me that excuse? Just kidding. I would give you a break as long as the vic-1 equipment continues to flow. As to the discussion, I have had mine going 70-75 for extended...

    M818 trip

RE: Re: RE: M818 trip Non-commercial would apply because of reciprocity. If I am legal in Michigan then I am legal elsewhere. For an example, in the past Tennessee did nor require a plate or registration for non-commercial, non-rv type trailers. When a Tennessee plated vehicle towed a non...

    M818 trip

The problem was having the farm plates. Farm plates pretty much says you use the truck for the farm and that means making money with it. This means you would be considered a commercial operator. The Farm plates fall into an exception to having to have the CDL and commercial plates. As long as...

    M818 trip

Most farm exceptions to the CDL requirement have a restriction on how far from the farm you can be. It is 120 or 150 miles here in Michigan if I remember correctly.

    My new M936A2 project (update)

Re: RE: My new M936A2 project The first 900 series were first delivered in the middle 80's. I drove them during my time in from 1989-1993. Newer yes but far from new. I was appalled by the condition of my deuce when I picked it up. It was in good mechanical shape but there was a lot of surface...

    Tested fuel burning heaters today

I checked my solenoids and found two to be sluggish and not always opening all the way. I put the best two on the control valve and tested it. Everything was fine. Flow was within specs for both low and high settings. I used the pump on the truck and just put the switch to run to power the pump...

    Tested fuel burning heaters today

I know the plate and they are clear on both valves. Something has to be obstructed in the valve body itself. I did not pull out the valves themselves. Have you pulled them out? I do not see any easy way to do it. It looks like I have to pull the guts out of the solenoid.

    Tested fuel burning heaters today

I have been working on mine all weekend. I got one control valve working within specs on high but nothing on low. I had a valve from a brand new coolant heater and it did not work at all. Not a drip came out. The original was leaking externally so I put the new o-rings from the new valve into...

    Suicide Budds?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Suicide Budds? My local big truck place at the local truck stop would not balance split rims. I was hoping to get my steering wheels balanced. All they heard was old military truck and split rim and the conversation was over. I am sure your guy just heard military truck and...

    Deuce hub nut socket

Re: RE: Deuce hub nut socket They can get them but it sounds like you got someone that does not know how to look up the number or does not want to take the time. I looked mine up in the OTC catalog and had my local parts store order it in.

is this correct Glow Plug Relay ?

The relay is triggered by 12 volts on the Cucv. The only place 24 volts go through is the main connections to the glow plugs but the triggering circuit is 12 volt.

    Paint question

It is not a question of high enough pressure. Most air paint guns use lower input pressure than the compressor pressure. The big problem is volume. I would say the deuce air system would not provide enough CFM to properly paint with.

    service brake operation

RE: Re: RE: service brake operation There is a port that you can shoot some air tool oil in to keep things free. It is at the back and is a square head plug. I tool for opening water spigots works great. I think it is 1/4 inch. Do a search. Someone has posted pics of what to look for with...

    M35A2 Batteries

What he is telling you is to get the brackets. They are for Optima batteries to fit in the stock deuce battery box. You can get Optima batteries at most auto supply stores. The are gel batteries. If you want the stock style batteries then you need 6TL batteries available from Deka, Interstate...

    service brake operation

On trailers with both connections the emergency side fills an air tank on the trailer. There is a relay valve on the trailer that allows the emergency supply from the truck to fill the tank. If the relay valve does not have pressure from the emergency line then it applies the brakes using the...

    service brake operation

Your assumptions are correct. The service air valve does provide air to the trailer when the brake pedal is pressed. If you had a build up that would not release then you should rebuild the airpack assembly.
