Not 100% sure yet which ones will work with the bigger tires yet, but I want one cargo and one lowboy.
Flatbeds and lowboys don't come up that often out here, so I will probably end up with a cargo style for the first military trailer.
Why lift the tire though? That setup does sound good for moving the tires around.
Just roll the tire up to the hub, wiggle it up near the hub, then use the jack to raise or lower the hub so the tire will 'slide right on'. To slide it on, this is where you put the tire spoon, pry bar, etc (make...
I never lift these tires. The absolute MOST I will do is use a long tire spoon to help nudge the tire around while mounting it.
I put the tire up to the hub, then use the jack to lift/lower the axle so the rim lines up with the hub. Use a spoon, pry bar, etc, to push the tire onto the hub...
I have the stock small step for the front bumper, but I am tempted to make a fold down step for it now.
Rear tires fit just fine with the stock setup. CLOSE to each other, but they fit fine.
When putting on winch line the first time, I hook the cable up to a telephone pole that is slightly up hill from my truck, then I barely put the parking brake on (this helps to keep the truck from yo-yo'ing on you).
Also, make sure that the end of the cable can spin around. They will rotate a...
I had 4 of the tires already, and picked up the last two from 100dollarman while I was picking up this 818 out of Barstow.
I like the aggressive look and use of the XL, but these XZL's should fit my use for the truck a lot better.
I agree on the front wheel well sizing issue. The stock 11r20s...
Well, got the 16R20's mounted up on the xm818.
Brand new HEMTT rims (Thanks M1075!), and new valve stems (thanks Warthog!).
Lots of work and sweat, and I have a very TALL 818!
Only took it for a short test spin. Got a wild harmonic going with the tires. But I figure that might be from them...
Not really, it doesn't look like you could get the fitting flush enough to make enough of a difference. It would just push the cable off to the front of the fitting.
Funny thing, the low pressure setup wasn't really that dirty. A little grime in there (probably from the sticking unloader valve). Otherwise it was in good shape. I just pulled it apart, wiped it all down, inspected for cracks in the rubber, and put back together.
Hardest part was laying on my...
Love those lights, but at that cost, there is no way I can justify it for something that doesn't get driven enough.
But if I drove it all the time, the safety factor might justify it.
And I pulled that apart as well. Cleaned it up, made sure the diaphragm was in good shape, put back together, tested with air pressure.
All works good now!
You should see the SLUDGE that is in the air tanks! I guess 700 miles of constantly running will blow a bit of oil into the tanks because...
Not much to talk about.
Two bolts with washers hold the setup down. And undo the air line.
There are a few things that come out, have o rings on them, and have washers between the parts.
Was that vague enough?
Honestly though, pull it apart and just clean up the rusty stuff.
If the O-rings are...
What did you end up doing about this one?
My tach worked for about 600 or so miles, then slowed down, then stopped.
The cable is ok, and has the same issue you are describing.
