    M105a2 advise

Maybe local PD, but State Police/Highway Patrol will know. Most sheriffs departments will also. State DOT officers will definitely know and are the ones most likely to stop you. Biggest thing you have to worry is your insurance company. Any accident, regardless of fault, and your...

    M1009 has loud idle

It’s a Diesel so it will be loud. When cold, the cold advance and high idle solenoid will make it louder until warmed up. That and no insulation in the cab.

    M105a2 advise

Their correct. Very Bad idea and not legal anyway. Check with your states DOT officers and they will tell you same thing. Even the Military is smart enough not to do it. Plenty of youtube videos of people who try it (Different trailers, same physics) and ending with disastrous results...

M1008 Glow Plug Intermittent Issue Any Ideas?

Why leave the hood up for 11 days? Just curious.

    M101 rear latch

Best bet is to post in the parts wanted forum. Usually some are on eBay, but SS members almost always beat those prices. Always amazes me what some of these guys have squirreled away.

    M101 rear latch

Your best bet if funds are available is to acquire a set of the fiberglass sides and gates. Lighter, stronger, and will never rot. A common upgrade/modification to these is to install a gate in front also. Extremely handy and it’s very easy modification to do.

    M101 rear latch

Not normal and was probably swapped with another part at some point. Very easy to fix by cutting your own notch.

What did you do to your trailer today.

The one thing you will not find, unless extremely lucky, are new parking brake levers. Cables are still out there, but correct NOS handle assembly’s are basically nonexistent. They made thousands of these trailers and for whatever reason, no known supply of surplus NOS parking brake handles...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Best Military Trailer ever made in my opinion. Dexter still makes the parts for the axle/brakes. Croft Trailer still has factory parts for the surge brake assembly. Your gonna love it!!!!! Congrats!!!!

    M101 Shocks - Monroe 32283 Unavailable?

A search will turn up the shock replacement numbers. Lots of guys, including me, have replaced them with new currently available shocks. They work perfectly. I don’t remember the part number of mine or I would post it.

M1009 front driveshaft dust boot part #

The Rancho cover will not survive the centrifugal force of the front driveshaft, if it will even fit. It is not made to spin. Even off-road, the driveshaft will spin fast enough to disintegrate it. The original GM boot is tough plastic that is designed for and can handle the spinning forces...

M1101/02 trailers: I need to change the wheels and need the exact size

The surge brakes are great when properly maintained. Most surplus trailers I’ve seen, the surge brakes have been neglected/ignored. Luckily factor parts are still readily available. I just hauled several loads of gravel in my M101A2, averaging about 2 tons per load. Heaviest was 2.46 tons...

Looking for a new idle air control valve

ACDELCO still makes the High Idle Solenoid. Mine was marked “Made in USA”.

Ideas for a suitable S280 hauler?

Transporting my S-280 to its final resting spot after major modifications inside. Was painted OD once off M989A1 trailer. Serious overkill of a trailer, but it worked perfectly. Pics don’t show it but there was plenty of room to open door enough for easy entry.

Identify this trailer with M108? and Honest John Rocket

Talk about a specialized trailer. If you find one for sale, buy a lottery also, because Lady Luck is definitely looking over your shoulder.

Any other issues that you’ve found while chasing the fuel gauge issue?

    Fuel Gauge Mystery Continues...

Maybe it’s just enough corrosion to cause the problem. I’ve replaced many a wire that looked perfect and for the most part handled the load requirement. Once replaced, peeled back insulation on old wire and entire length had corrosion. The new wire solved issues. Just a thought

Fill drilled holes in m1009 roof

I would spray that area inside and out with a rust converter spray or equivalent. A lot of guys use Ospho and it works very well at stopping rust and painting over it once it cures. I use ACF50 to spray on/in all the nooks and crannies. It also immediately stops rust and prevents any...

Fill drilled holes in m1009 roof

With the correct structural adhesive, it will be a lifetime repair. Bell Helicopter has proprietary videos of testing and the adhesive is actually stronger than surrounding metal. No water infiltration, No corrosion, No ultraviolet degradation, handles any Thermal load short of fire. Every...

Fill drilled holes in m1009 roof

I recommend staying away from anything at Lowe’s. The stuff I’m talking about is for professional/Manufacturing use and cannot be purchased at Lowes, etc. Grainger's will have some good stuff like in the link I posted. Loctite makes quite a few professional structural adhesive formulas and...
