Not at all. Keep up your preservation. Mine is pretty boring too, just hanging parts and maintaining. I can't come close to building a new truck like some members have done.
A couple of months ago I bought a S-788 shelter from another member. He had posted his story of acquisition, etc but ultimately decided to go another route. His loss, my gain. Anyway, after a recovery from northern GA back to my place on a 16ft car trailer it's now sitting in my driveway. I wish...
Seems there are less people around that still think like that. I'm no old timer, but thats how I was brought up too. I kind of feel like honor, integrity and trust are flexible values that most of the population call out only when it suits them, not a way of life.
I hope this works out for you...
Reg, I'm in your area I'll keep an eye out. Like everyone else here I'm always looking out for other MVs.
He's not a Soldier by chance is he? I figure you'd have mentioned that by now but I'll ask anyway.
NOD = Night Observation Device. General term for night vision.
I see nothing wrong with using BO lights in conjunction with white lights for a little extra "cool factor" if thats your thing. To my knowledge they don't violate any laws when used with white lights.
I make it a habit to always...
I've never been inside one of those, but in those pics the turret basket looks tiny! Looks decent on the outside, but the inside looks rough. I'm guessing your starting a full restoration? Awesome she's getting saved. I look forward to seeing the process and the final result.
zguy ended up getting an S788, former Trojan Spirit, then decided that wasn't the route he wanted to go. I bought the S788 from him. Picked it up from from his place a few weeks ago and brought it home on a 16ft flatbed. Moving it off my trailer alone was fun. I ended up building a custom dolly...
They look like they could be the A3s that came out of GL in Anchorage awhile back. They were all great looking trucks that went for big $$$. As I recall they were all past $10,000.
I've done vehicle recoveries, etc. Lift bags are the way to go. 32m (104ft) isn't too bad. It pushes sport diving limits but can be done safely with no specialized gear, lifting gear excluded. I used to dive with a crew and work for a company that can do this. We've got u/w navigation, SAR...
Those looked like Soldiers trashing Uncle's Deuce for no reason what so ever. So who is the lucky sucker that ended up buying that particular truck from GL?
More close up, current photos of this cutting edge soviet technology here: Ekranoplan | English Russia and here: http://englishrussia.com/2010/09/05/ekranoplan-the-inside-view/ Ran when parked?
Lots of good photos of soviet era military equipment in various states of decay if you jump up to...
