    S-788 Shelter

Any more shelters to be had? I missed out on one from GL awhile back.

    New from Alaska

I just left Wainwright. I read up on it while I was there, and it appeared as though you'll need a CDL for a 5 ton unless you register as a historic vehicle. No reason not to register as historic if its just going to be a hobby truck. If you're going to work it for somebody besides yourself, or...

    Learn First Aid

Saw it first hand as well when I was a private. Soldier in the DFAC stands up holding his throat, eyes bulging, SFC jumps up without missing a beat and gives him the Heimlich. The offending food shoots out and the SFC ends up with an ARCOM from the BDE CDR a few days later. [thumbzup] All the...

    m818

I can't seem to find the thread, but I believe there is a version with a cargo bed that locked into the 5th wheel too. The 818 isn't modified much at all and still has a cargo bed. I dig the look of those modified 818s. I'd trade my 813 for a 818 frankencargo. Boom! As I typed MW showed the goods.

    M101A2 recovery from Anchorage, AK

Awesome recovery, and great write up. I miss Alaska more every day.

    Tires backwards??

It's nice to think that someone paid enough attention to consider the tactical issue, and I haven't been around the Army as long as A3s have, but since I first encountered them in 2003 not once has the direction of the tires been a tactical concern. That goes for any vehicle. When I was a...

UV damage to VRC-12 antennas AS-3900, 1729, etc.

There is a plastic cover for the top that covers the threads and contact where the radiating element screws on to the base but I don't think there is a cover for the whole base. At least in 12 years of Army signal work I've never seen one. It's not in any of the common TM's either. Not to say...

    813 from MI to GA

Thats the problem. I didn't do good. :( I had realistic expectations, but the few bids I got were not realistic IMHO. I'm still hoping for that backhaul... Rpollitt01, shoot me a PM with the info. Thanks!

    813 from MI to GA

Didn't have much luck through the site similar to uShip or uShip itself. Only two bids and both were far more than I expected to pay. Still looking. Anybody need a load coming back south? 48160 to 30813? It's about 770 miles. Even getting close would be good.

    rear light 101a4 broken

That 101A4 looks an awful lot like an M1101/02. Was it a limited item or was it just later designated as an 1101? If they are the same tail lights as an M1101 you might have better luck searching as an 1101/02...

Should I build another MRAP? Need your advice/criticism, please.

The National Training Center at Fort Irwin uses visually modified (vismod) M923 5 tons as substitutes for MRAPs. Most of the actual MRAPs have gone to OEF/OIF so they came up with some pretty good mockups for training. I've got some pictures of 'em from my last rotation earlier this year.

    20,000lb wrecker winch shear pins

I bought 20k shear pins from Military Vehicles For Sale | Military Trucks For Sale-TNJMurray. Not sure if the wrecker 20k is the same, but I'll bet it is. They're a little pricier than I wanted, but far less costly than replacing an exploded winch.

    813 from MI to GA

The time has come to find some transpo for my 813 from MI to GA. I had originally planned to drive it, but it doesn't look like I'm going to have a chance for much time off before Dec. My plan was to get her prepped over leave a month ago so I felt better driving her 750+ miles but my logistics...

    M931A2 New Addition!

Great looking 931! I'd love to have any 939A2. I dig 809 trucks, but I've always thought the 939s look much meaner. The mechanical improvements they made over the 809 5 tons are pretty nice too. I hate it when someone asks me what kind of mileage my 813 gets (standard answer now is 3 gallons of...
