I'm moving down to Augusta, GA on 3 JUL and thought I'd offer up free space on my trailer if a member need something moved from SE MI. I can't haul a vehicle and I'm already towing a trailer but anything like heavy parts, longer items, etc I might be able to help with. I don't have too much...
PM's sent. Thanks Gimpy, I'll look up Rogers.
Yea, my location still says Fairbanks because I'm homeless right now. I'm in the middle of a PCS and just stopping through MI to see family and visit my 813. On my way to another station in a couple weeks.
I'm looking to single out my 813, anyone know of a supplier with 14's and either HEMTT or 939 rims within a reasonable distance of SE Michigan? I'm also looking for 7 bow corners and can't seem to find any locally. I'm done with eGay scams, so I'm looking to deal with local suppliers whenever...
Everts Air out of Fairbanks, AK still flies C-46s and C-54s daily. They may have others but those are the birds I saw routinely flying out of FBKS Int'l. Everts has quite a few hulks it looks like they strip to keep them running. If you happen to land at FBKS you'll see them along the north edge...
Though TA-312s, TA-43s, CE-11, SB-22s, and TA-1s are still on active duty, the message came out last year to turn them in. As of Dec 2010 all the two wire phones and equipment that are being dropped from MTOE. There was a list of LINs that included more items, but I can't recall the entire list...
By USAREUR (US Army Europe) regulation they were required to be on all Army rolling stock when I was there '03-06. I'm sure they came long before that, and are still in use.
Good to hear. I'll be headed to FT Gordon soon, and once I'm back in the land of less-than-$17,000 A3's (aka the lower 48) I might try to find one. It'd be nice if Ft Gordon keeps putting out some good looking trucks and generators.
Very cool. I'd love to get an additional duty like that. Looks like you have quite a project ahead of you. Kind of beyond the scope of this thread, but I'm curious how a BN is appropriating funds for a large undertaking like this? Are you doing it based on donations, or is the commander...
What an awesome piece to add to your collection. For all of us that dream of owning such a cool vehicle, you've got to fill us in on what it took to acquire it.
The A3 w/w trucks that went out of Anchorage a few weeks ago brought 17k or so. In four years of semi regular GL watching up here in AK that was the largest lot of trucks I've seen, and it may have been the only lot of m35s I've seen. Location is a huge factor in the price. The one quote...
I run two 6tls and two group 31's. Two of the four 6tls that came with my 813 tested good, two were shot, so I replaced those with group 31's. I had to mod the battery box a bit to fit the 31's, and had to make some hold downs, but it only took a few minutes and it works well.
I see 150 deg, but how hot do you need to get the oil for this to be effective? While I'm sure heating WMO over an open fire is fine if you're careful, could you add a margin of safety to this and just pump hot water through some pipes submerged in your oil storage tank? Fab up a radiator of...
Unfortunately I have my 813 insured through progressive as well @ about $800/ year. They wouldn't touch it without a commercial policy. USAA won't do a 3 axle vehicle on an auto policy and mine couldn't be written up as an RV. I keep meaning to shop around and get a better company than...
I'd dive it, as long as it wasn't too deep. I've only done cold water diving. Off Newfoundland it was 34 deg on the surface, and 28 degrees at 100'. It can't get much colder than that. I'm still in!
Nope. It sold. I called the guy that was selling it to see if I could take photos up close. He...
Wow. Awhile ago thieves were stripping copper and aluminum. Its so bad now that they're stealing steel. A year or two ago I'm not sure I would have believed scrap steel would be worth the effort to steal it. Watch your trucks. I'm surprised we haven't heard of some sh*tbag stealing one of our...
Steel soldiers expedition to find it? I'm in. Now that would be an epic recovery. Ran when parked. My snowshoes and skis are ready, and I'm Arctic qualified. Let's go!
Come on, it's Canada, it's almost the US. kidding of course, much love for my Canadian Brothers. Welcome to SS Dave G. You have a great province over there. Spent some time there in 1998. Make sure you research what you'll need to get over the border, and probably more importantly to...
The crew cab A3 is sweet. Nice work so far. Have we seen a CC A3 yet? I don't think I have. Suicides on the rear doors might be cool, makes me think of a 1962 Lincoln. It's your truck, do what you want, but FWIW my vote is no gull wing or bottom hinged doors.
