You the man, Gimp! It's the stupid little stuff that is hard to find sometimes! Let me know what you have. I'll probably buy the whole box from you to have for this and future projects!
Any other comments on the June 10-14 date? It seems like that is going to work well for quite a few folks. I would like to be able to set it in stone so people can start planning their vacation days, etc... Please let me know if there are any other conflicts. Thanks!
Funny ;) The ground lug was a little on the loose side so it didn't work the first time I hooked it up. LOL! I fiddled with it a little and it cranked. I am going to drop it by the starter shop to let them go through it just in case. It's fun to wrestle it into place, huh? FYI, my spacer...
Good info, Jason. Thanks for tracking that down!
Here's my little video from Sunday. I wish I could have taped it when it started on starting fluid, but no dice. Hopefully the next video will have it running on diesel.
I can get some pics of it, but it will be after Thanksgiving before I am down there again.
BTW, S&S Parts aka New Star can get NOS radiators. They list them in their catalog as: 11669165 S-13860 RADIATOR, 5 TON M809, AUTO
which is the right PN even though it says M809. There is a 6-8 wk lag...
The transfer case has its own bearing reatainer. It's a pretty easy R&R. I have done it in the driveway a couple of times. I rebuilt the t-case once right after I got my 1009 because the pads on t he shift forks were worn out and it kept popping out of gear. The second time was in done in...
Phew, I was worried! Glad it was the radiator and not the engine or tranny! They are a heavy son-of-a-gun! Mine was in the bed of the truck when I got the 923A2. Thankfully it only required a flush with the garden hose to be right.
Here are some pics. I'll get the video up later.
Thankfully, the starter wiring was intact. That will save me a lot of time. The alternator wiring was hacked off though along with the 8-wire connector that powers the front clip. Seriously, how hard is it to undo a connector?
The one pic...
Holy cow, what a day! It's good to be home. My brother and I met at John's at a 8am. We immediately located the 925 parts donor and soaked it with Kroil to get things loosened up for later. While it was soaking, we looked over the 925A2 to make a plan of attack.
The first order of...
Thanks Garry. You're a real pal
I should have updated pics and info tomorrow night. I am leaving here around 6:45 am for Winslow's. My brother is meeting me there and we are going to get a bunch of stuff done.
I have the starter from Halftrack loaded up along with 5 gallons of oil...
Seems like a lot of guys are leaning towards June. Personally, I like it cool and wet, but that's why I asked for opinions. MD308, I'm not sure how June is any farther away from May than April :-P
What about June 10-14?
Great! Thanks for the offer to help, Jeff. Having other members to help with logistics will be key to making this thing a success. I have really missed going the last couple of years so I am very excited to do it again this year. It'll be even more special with the site turning 10!
Any...
