It will be pretty easy, the oil return line will be the tricky one. Easiest way will be to just take off the left valve cover and drill/tap it for a fitting. Could probably have it done for a couple bucks at NAPA.
Thanks guys, will definitely plumb in then. It's not put together just yet anyway and I would never think of doing the above without getting a few second opinions. After looking around the block it should be real easy to plumb in to with some new fittings.
I am almost done rebuilding my m211's compressor, some new gaskets and a paint job are all that's needed now before I put it back together. I already know how I am going to mount this compressor to my engine (455 Olds) but I was talking with a member here today on the phone who had a similar...
I don't think these trucks are necessarily "coming out of the woods" or showing up anymore often than they did, say 5 or even 10 years ago. I think it's due to the popularity of the trucks currently being sold at liquidation and how forums like SS and G503 (to name a couple) have grown over the...
Little update. Went to flush the radiator a couple days ago. I had found a major vacuum leak on the intake manifold in the form of an old threaded hole. Likely used to mount a vacuum tower which were common during the early 70's on 455's. Just plugged it with a bolt and now the engine idles...
Yahoo! Happy as a clam today. Replaced all my rubber fuel lines after finding a bunch of crap clogging one of them, also changed the inline filter and carb filter. Cleaned out the entire carb, inside and out. Before cleaning, fuel would "sputter" into the venturi. After a thorough cleaning fuel...
Tried firing it up today. After advancing/retarding the distributor (which had no affect on startup/idle) I am about 90% sure the reason it won't idle at all and is difficult to start up is simply a fuel issue. The carb is probably gunked up a little too, so tomorrow i'll be making a short walk...
I may just tap off one battery for the ignition. I was told since the ignition doesn't draw that much it shouldn't offset the balance of the batteries very much at all. I will even just run 24V through the starter too. No harm in running double the volts and half the amps through what it was...
Progress update. Spent 5 hours yesterday crawling under 500lbs of transfer case to get the floor winched back down. Lots of cussing and almost crushed my head, but I got it done and it looks great! Center floor plate removed, gives you total access to your tranny shift linkage, master cylinder...
This is my 54 GMC deuce, many years ago I was told it was a stripped down and gutted body/chassis and was picked up with a forklift which bent up the middle of the cab floor. It's a running driving complete truck now, but the bend is about 5 inches tall in the center. I'd like to get it down as...
I tore my seats out yesterday to begin reupholstering them. The passenger side spring is in great shape, rusty but very solid. I had to chuck the drivers side spring though, was FUBAR. Anyone have a solid spring seat out of an G749 they don't need? Rusty is okay, just not pitted to death.

It has a 455 Oldsmobile Rocket and Turbo 400 Hydramatic. Great combo, should get many years of reliable service from it. I have been putting at least several hours of work into the truck every day since I have had it, if I keep this up it should be on the road by Christmas time. I may just go...
Wow! I live in Yuma, my truck was originally built as an M220 as well. I wonder if they were next to one another at some point in time? Mine has the white paint still on the cab areas.
More pics. Behind the passenger seat I found the original back cushion still neatly tucked away inside the cushion cover, knotted neatly by some unknown Arizona soldier years ago. I did find warning stickers on the truck dating back to late 1964 so that tells me it was in service atleast until...
