I'm glad I found this old thread! I didn't know my M211 bed had dropside troop seats on it until now. It came with 1 of the securing pins and all the angle braces which up until now I had no idea what any of it was for. Anyone have a 2nd securing pin for the head rack?
Holy crap! I'd love to see an M211 shirt! They would sell well in the GMC section here. A lot of us feel "left out" because we don't have Multifuel's like everyone else. rofl

I wonder what became of that old truck? I have a 455 Olds in my M220 so I have a soft spot for other deuce's with BB gassers in them. By the way, that roscommonequipment page is pretty neat. While I don't think all MV's should be cut up, the forestry services needed them to do tough jobs and...
As a professional stocksmith I have refinished a lot of stocks with all sorts of finishes. Some stocks came from the factory with a shellac finish, like an Arisaka for example. Being wartime weapons they were not all thoroughly cleaned of any stock carving dust before the shellac was applied, so...
I let the rusty metal primer dry for a total of 3 days before I apply a topcoat. The reason why Rustoleum's primer takes so long to dry is because it contains fish oil. If it dried in under an hour like some paints do, it would never do it's intended job of preventing rust. It dries so slowly...
I have been VERY happy with my Behr paint job. It was Behr Premium Plus Ultra to be exact. Again, these are not actually "latex" based paints. They are acrylics, just like the paint used on your Ford or Toyoda, minus the clear coat of course. I was a bit critical of my paint job in the beginning...
Other than the above, making the new motor mount brackets and transmission crossmember is all super easy if you know how to weld and have a little creativity in you.
Boy I would love to have your old powerplant for that price. Unfortunately we're a ways away! Since your using a diesel engine you have no choice but to keep the original air over hydraulic brakes, so you'll be fabricating a mount for the air compressor. The easiest way to do this is to use a...
If anyone hasn't seen it yet, get it! Great movie, very suspenseful, well made and has lots of M211 action. It's getting to be a rare DVD though, I believe you can get it on Amazon.
I believe the truck in the photo belongs to Bobby Joe Pendleton. Are you him? I have that very image for the background on my screen. The truck hs equipped with all sorts of original goodies. Even an REB shift kit on the side of the shift tower.
I have already considered the swap, a Multifuel will not fit without some hefty modifications to the firewall. You'd have to put a "box" inside the middle of the cab to act as an engine cover, similar to the old cab over trucks and vans. Even then, the shifter would be darn near at the back of...
Just wonderin, has anyone tried using the Multifuel type turbo on another application? I mean, what makes a diesel turbo different from a gas engine turbo? As I understand it, the only things that make them different are air flow ratings. Obviously diesels will use a **** of a lot more air than...
It seems to me that the Military rated both the Deuce's and 5 ton's very conservatively in the weight category. Even the old 10 ton was in NO way a 10 ton truck. I have heard of them hauling as much as 300 Tons!!! I guess it was a matter of how much the vehicles COULD haul whilst still retaining...
