Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

Not sure I'm following you here. Can you please elaborate? Are you saying that the shackle will make the traction bar less effective when it comes to controlling axle-wrap? Would seem that way, but that's the tricky thing about leafsprings. They don't move in a simple arc like solid links, so...

    Mod'ing a 923A1 Your thoughts, please

Only trouble seems like you're really saving yourself is extending some airlines and modifying one driveshaft. Why not just leave the spare tire carrier where it is and move the middle axle back to wherever works best for you? Should still be able to cut down on the overall length by at least...

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

...and tires flexing and let's not forget the way these frames twist too.

    What are M105's going for?

Thanks, that's really helpful. If you look through my posts, should be clear that I come here to learn and to share tech. That's all. Not to cause trouble. Was simply asking for clarification because we have been asked, specifically, by moderators, to police ourselves, to help each other follow...

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

Well see, that's the thing. Executed right, there's really not much compromise. Traction bars can reduce/eliminate axle-wrap without affecting the suspension much, if at all, in any negative way.

    Deleting pictures

Would be pretty easy to amend that to read in a way that gives SS non-exclusive, perpetual rights to host/share user-generated content without asserting ownership though, right? There's also an obvious difference between user-generated content and anything created/owned by SS, and I don't see...

    What are M105's going for?

Have never posted anything even remotely close to rubbing up against that rule, but am awfully confused about all this. Read something once that a moderator wrote, where it was explained that the reason for this rule, at least in part, is to avoid potential conflicts between members, as bidding...

Axle wrap with a bobbed deuce?

Wasn't talking **** about your setup, and acknowledged that the springs might not have enough travel to make the bind apparent. But unless your geometry is perfect, then yeah, they're going to bind. Building traction-bars like yours is actually a lot more complicated than building the other type...

    What are M105's going for?

So talking about upcoming auctions, including dates and locations, without referring to specific auctions is okay? Yes?

    What are M105's going for?

Really? So it's okay to discuss upcoming auctions, locations and dates, as long as... what? That makes no sense. trider, not directing any of this towards you, more interested in the management's interpretation of their rules.

    What are M105's going for?

See that big thing in bold print at the top of the page about not discussing upcoming auctions?

    Deleting pictures

Everything about posting pictures on this site is difficult. Or at least tedious.

    Stripping a comm shelter

Yeah, that's kinda what I'm, thinking too. Take a look at how 59apache built his jacks. Think that might be the way to go. Probably going to just weld that square tubing into the subframe under the M109 box and cargo bed and anything else I might wanna carry, so can swap bed and boxes around as...

    Wrecker wishlist of mods

Think it's been pretty well-understood for a long time that the front axles on the deuces and 5-tons are close to being overloaded when you add winches to the front of these trucks. Dunno how conservative those ratings are, but that's how the numbers add-up.

Here's a link to that report I was talking about.

    Yes, same axles.

    California registration experience.

Like someone posted in that other thread, the only verbiage that matters is what's in the codebook that the LEO's use to enforce the laws. Read-up on that stuff and figure out what you're comfortable with. We're registering most of our vehicles historical.

Makes perfect sense. Sounds like a solid idea to me.

    Wrecker wishlist of mods

Would be surprised if all those plates add up to much more than 500lbs. Isn't the front axle rating going to become an issue pretty quickly? Remember reading a white paper someone published about adapting these M939 trucks to serve as wildfire trucks and if I remember correctly the front axle...
