Catastrophic Ibis Tek tow bar failure; snapped like a twig.

Wow, sorry to hear about that, but at least nobody got hurt. Cool that they replaced it, but dunno if I would trust one of those either after reading this thread. If you want to replace it with one of our medium-adjustable towbars, we'll give you 1/2-off?

    Power Steering Possibility?

Well then you're all set. You can support the end of the steering column that's attached to the steering wheel with a second steering column mount (like the one that's used on the dash) at the firewall.

Adding multipurpose hydraulics to the deuce

Let's get into it. Designing a new workbed for mah deuce and plans include adding a transfercase PTO-driven hydraulic pump (in addition to the 5-ton multifuel pump on the engine), along with a 12KW pto-driven generator out of an M1031. Might as well start thinking about implement attachment...

    Power Steering Possibility?

That's the tricky part. Think it's a solid idea and worth exploring, but the way the steering shaft is made makes it a little more complicated. You'll have to cut the housing and the shaft, but do you want to support both ends of the cut shaft/housing and create something more like an...

    M109 box on M932A2

We're heading down to Barstow tomorrow to pick-up these 5-tons and we're planning on putting our truck in the back of one of them to get it home. Have to make sure the front bumper is tall enough to clear the front bulkhead because if we can't the truck all the way forward, the rear tires would...

    m939 Heater Core

Worth mentioning that there are provisions to close-off coolant flow to the heater core if anyone finds themselves with one that starts leaking. Just look where the coolant lines are connected to the engine.

    caging bolts

My brother and I are heading down to Barstow on Monday to go pick up some hightop M923A2's, and wanted to pick up some extra caging bolts in case we need them. Had to install them on one truck previously, and it was way more difficult than it should have been. Paint on the threads made it so...

    M109 box on M932A2

Received a PM from another member who took a measurement for me, and he said the bed height appears to be right around 59" - with the disclaimer that his truck wasn't sitting on flat/level ground. if I put the M109 box on top of the cargo bed, would end up being right around 12.5ft tall. For the...

M923 with roll cage and tall hardtop

Yeah, we've been waiting... and waiting... and waiting. Those hightops have been selling for serious money. Happy we were finally able to snag a few.

M923 with roll cage and tall hardtop

My brother and I just bought three really nice looking hightops at Barstow today and we only need two, so we'll probably be listing one of them for sale sometime soon-ish.

    M109 box on M932A2

If I remember right, the M109 boxes are right around 7.5ft tall from the bottom of the skids to the top of the roof. It'll be under 13.5ft, just wondering by how much.

    M109 box on M932A2

So it's just over 11ft tall with an M109 box installed directly on top of the framerails, with 1" wood strips? Plus the cargo bed height, which can't be more than another foot or so, and... I think that might work. Can anybody tell me how high the cargo bed sits above the framerails?

    M109 box on M932A2

Thanks Zout. How tall is your AC unit? Trying to figure out if I can get away with putting the M109 box on top of the cargo bed.

    M109 box on M932A2

Quick question - What's the bed height on the M923A2 trucks? Don't have one to measure here, thanks.

    rebuilding Blackmore's old worktruck

Looking for a 3053A deuce 5spd to replace the TH400 and would also really like to find a nice turbo kit to install on this engine. Can anybody help?

Oh yeah, the management sucks. Think they're on auto-pilot over there.

    rebuilding Blackmore's old worktruck

Thanks. Gone down how? Pirate's always been kinda... yeah. But that's true of all the forums, isn't it? Gotta sift through a lot of bull**** in order to get to the good stuff, and if you're looking for solid tech, it's there.

Hydraulic Assit Steering- Another Idea Never Attempted

Posted this picture in another thread a long time ago, and it's a good example of a fabricated pitman arm with a heimijoint mounted in double-shear. See how it eliminates any kind of bending loads on the hardware. Much stronger/safer. Tierod-ends can get away with being mounted in single-shear...
