Should probably re-read this thread before asking, but just wanted to confirm that historical registration will exempt deuces and 5-tons from the 2014 smog laws, yes?
Yeah, might try to do that with my deuce if I bob it and put an M103A3 bed on it (with a helmet hardtop camper shell thingy).
Ah, that's really interesting! Don't mind doing my own homework, but if anyone has a link handy, that might be useful for future reference. Thanks!
That's interesting. Has anyone ever been ticketed for using a historical vehicle for in an unauthorized manner?
Just downloaded the historical application and the word 'primary' is not used. The word is 'only'. Leaves no wiggle-room as I read it.
Thanks for the info. So have to ask, why didn't you just install an OD tranny like a 700R4? Are you splitting gears with it? Oh, and don't worry, nothing's going to waste. The Utility box is going on an M101A3 trailer chassis and all the electrical stuff is going into my motorhome. Actually, the...
How's that OD setup? Have an SM465 and a D18 transfercase with a .25% Warn OD that I could throw in there, but a 5spd or OD auto would be a lot nicer. But you know how much I paid for that thing, and there's not a lotta cash left over to spend on parts right now.
Just bought an M1031 and have a set of 37" HMMWV wheels/tires that I was planning to throw on it. Been searching for info about fuel economy and haven't found much, which seems kinda weird because I know it's a pretty popular combo. 15-ish?
The best hinge setup I've seen/used is actually the stock spare tire carrier from an H2. Much sturdier than most of the aftermarket parts, and would be easy to adapt to one of these. Have one that I might put on my truck.
37" Goodyears? Have the same tires for mine. What springs are you running? Would like to leave mine stock and just open-up the front fenders as needed. Wondering if the tires will clear the box though.
Impressive. Just did 350 miles in an M923A2 on Monday and could have happily driven twice that many, but am not sure if I'd still be smiling after 1900 straight.
Correct, and that's $75 cheaper than having us ship directly, so it's a pretty substantial savings. CARNAC, what are you drinking? Bet you'll be receiving a few beers along with money to cover the towbars and transportation.
Been talking to CARNAC about this and he's going to be pulling a small trailer behind an M1009, so we're thinking he might only be able to take 15-20 towbars. Prices for the towbars will be the same (listed here). Not sure what kind of delivery fees he'll be charging, but it's sure to beat the...
