Hmmm..do you like low flying aircraft?....then here ya go!

That was a good job by all involved. Thanks for posting.

    Lack of power at speed.

All of the above suggestions are good. Since we are basically in the same area I wanted to pass on a few M1009 driving experiences of my own. Stock M1009 with a receiver hitch and 33x12.50 BFG AT tires. Pulling a 2,000 pound flat bed trailer with nothing on it I can go any speed I like. I...

    CUCV community tool box

I'm in the 15 mm swivel socket with a long extension under the intake runner for #1 and a box end wrench for the other two bolts group. I don't think I am in the "hundreds" yet for timing adjustments, but I know I am in the "dozens" of times category. It works. If you don't have swivel...

    CUCV oil leak

Look in the valley under the intake too. If the IP is leaking, the valley will be wet. There is a drain at the back of the valley for the fuel to run out. By the time the leaking fuel gets to the ground, it looks like oil. If you park nose down, the fuel won't drain out.

    Heat Blower Bogging the Electrical?

That bolt under the #1 cylinder is a constant problem on 2 of my trucks. They all work loose. I have torqued to spec, used Threadlocker Red, torqued beyond spec, tried lock washers, etc... Now I just check it every time I check the oil. That and the two bolts for the starter motor support...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

I started with 3 pretty much complete Suburbans interior wise. 2 3/4 tons and a 1/2 ton. I built a 3/4 ton that had at least 200K miles on it and the interior was super nasty. Also, the wrong color. The other 3/4 ton had a blue interior that has good seats and carpet. That truck is my back...

Well blew another head gasket :(

If the blowby goes away as soon as you give it some throttle. That means your CDR is working properly. As I understand their function that is.

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

More driving and driving. I should hit 4,000 miles on the way home tonight. Yesterday was a 175 mile day. 40° outside temp with rain and strong wind. I set the cruise at 75 and just let it eat up the miles. Very stable at that speed in wet, nasty conditions. The transmission temperature...

    M1009 Brake Issue

Where exactly are you? That master cylinder needs to be rebuilt or replaced. They are cheap, so pick up a new one.

    Fire extinguisher recall of Kidde

I also made a claim the day this thread came out. Replacement showed up a week ago. Thanks for starting this thread.

    Quick & efficient starting

Stop! What glow plugs do you have? Unless they are Delco 60G glow plugs. Holding more than 10 seconds can cause them to burn out, swell or even explode inside the pre cup. You can do 10 seconds, but I wouldn't do anymore. Have you replaced the glow plugs yet? 10mm socket and a cold engine...

    Quick & efficient starting

The first start of the day takes 5-10 seconds of cranking is what you started this thread with. Is there any smoke out the exhaust once it does start? Greasy looking and smelling white/gray smoke indicates fuel but no heat. Glow plugs. No smoke of any kind and the engine running smooth...

    Engine Choice?

Timing chains don’t break all that often. I can’t remember ever even reading about a broken 6.? Timing chain. Stretch, yes. But they still run fine. How is does your harmonic balancer look when the engine is running? Wobble?

    Slip Yoke Engagement - NV4500

I would suggest pulling the axle end off. Then slide the slip yoke in all the way until it bottoms out. Pull it back out 1.5 inches. Mark the slip yoke with a Sharpie or something. Now, while trying to keep the marked line in place. Hole the axle end up and measure how short it is from fitting...

Need some help here with Doghead relay problem

Look above your parking brake pedal housing. You have to mash your head against the brake pedal to really see it. On the top of the housing is a single screw holding a 6 pin ground terminal. All of the under dash ground wires end up there. Take the single screw out, clean it with sand paper...

    Slip Yoke Engagement - NV4500

That is too far out. I would suggest a new drive shaft tube or if your rear end is sagging some. An Off Road Design add a leaf which will let you move the rear axle forward an inch. An extra bonus is the rear of the truck will get a one inch boost.

    Slip Yoke Engagement - NV4500

NP208/241? The slip yoke is supposed to be 1" to 1-1/2" from bottoming out against the seal with the truck sitting level. What are you at? Anymore that 1-1/2" away from the seal at rest and a new rear drive shaft should be considered.

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

The cheapest starter O’Reilly’s has makes the engine turn over faster than it ever has. It sure is easy to change starter motors out when the differential bump stop and bracket has been removed. I pulled it during the build because with the one inch add a leaf I figured it would never be needed...

Nice looking truck. That hood ornament has to go though. Just kidding. I had a perfect hood that had the holes for the ornament and just could not bring myself to use it on my project.

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

I have just been driving and driving the thing trying to make it as dependable as possible for long cross country trips. Yesterday I got the warning. I teach in a juvenile corrections facility. We have a 20 foot fence around the campus and a sally port gate system to get access. (Historical...
