As 162tcat says, the sprag only affects the steering axle so if you pulled the front drive shaft, you've eliminated drag from the steering axle.
You say that you aren't finding any hot spots anywhere which suggests that nothing is dragging. What happens when you step on the clutch and coast at...
Although the absence of air sounds during shifting from R to 1 indicate at least some kind of problem, how do you figure that you had some kind of drag rather than just a loss of engine power?
I apologize for asking this, but are you certain that you had the transfer case selected for the high...
Ah, you're in the same situation as I am. (New (old) truck with deferred maintenance.) YOU have not rolled it in the opposite direction in gear, but SOMEONE may have, in its lifetime.
In any case, these guys will set you right. I'll be following because I have the same truck, minus the lockers...
My fender tops were painted with a rough, non-skid paint and then painted over with CARC. Obviously done by the military. I'm surprised they didn't do the steps that way, also.

So...submitted my paperwork for tags and title. I should have my tags on Monday. Due to the VIN format, there will be a short delay, so I was unable to walk out with my tags.
I made a cardboard blocker for the radiator now that temperatures are freezing or below. I found some info in the TM's...
Please let us know if you move forward with this project, and if it works out. I like how the key is disguised as a switch handle.
I'm of mixed feelings regarding installing a key switch- On one hand, it certainly adds a little security. On the other hand, I consider the lack of security...
I can understand the need for money. I'm from Cape Coral, originally.
I drove right past you when I visited home for Xmas. I should have checked with you to see if you have any parts for sale that I could use.
With single circuit brakes, there is just no way to cut corners here. If you have a failure, you'll lose everything. It's a dangerous experiment to see if you can just push a different fluid down the lines and "see what happens." I just don't see how you can purge 100% of the old fluid without...
