If I want the 14" 1400ft-lb rated unit (double disc?), then it seems I need a cup/pot type of flywheel. Cummins p/n for this is 3910542. Hydraulic slave is mostly pull-type release bearing only, so clutch needs to be pull type also, which the majority of the big league stuff seems to be...
Ugh! So there are 14" flat flywheels, 14" cup (pot) flywheels, and 15.5" flat flywheels of several inner bore diameters, I think. 14" and 15.5" being the clutch friction disc diameter. 14" is SAE #2 and 15.5" is SAE #1. On the 14" clutches, the clutch is designed for either a cup (pot) type...
More clutch confusion. There are flat plate and cup type flywheels. Each takes a specific clutch. Great. I definitely have more homework here to figure this out. My choices open up if I am able to use a 15.5" flywheel inside an SAE #2 clutch housing, which is not the norm from what I little...
Road trip, taking Friday off work, possibly leaving Thursday after work. Taking Colorado truck and dual axle open car trailer from MI to MS and back. Attempting to come back with the ISL, an LWS, and as many 16.00-20 XZL's as I can fit. Need 12 total for truck and trailer. Not sure I can fit...
I converted a box truck to a rollback flatbed, by harvesting the Jerr-Dan aluminum rollback and slide frame off a trashed diesel F-Super Duty and moving it over to the box truck. Hydraulic wheel lift off the back was part of it also. It was a really easy task and works perfectly (and is for...
I'm only 50/50 with you on it Will. The engine has a "rocker box" and then a flat valve cover atop of that. The rocker box is required as an electrical wire bulkhead pass-through for the injectors, since they run the injectors centrally located between the 4 valves of each chamber. Sure, only...
I am picking up this ISL engine next Friday, a week from today. Don't get too excited, the motorhome engines are kind of ugly in the valve cover area. 2 piece with a breather filter box on top of it.
The pics on this link are representative of what it will look like...
I'll just stick the shifter handle out the back window.
I have more homework, the Eaton Solo clutch may not be a single disk like I thought, which may be OK. Also something about hydraulic and self adjusting play or don't play well together?
Master cyl mounts to firewall, slave on clutch housing.
I want a nice easy clutch pedal so I can comfortably drive to your house and do a 3 gear grabbin' hole shot on your lawn.
Some new info from digging all day long. I really don't want the nightmare of trying to do hard clutch linkage rods, so I am leaning toward hydraulic for ease of installation.
I want to keep my engine side SAE #2 flywheel housing as to not change rear motor mount style and location, so, I need...
We may be keying in on the key to making this work. I already back-dated my front prop shaft to the earlier one with the carrier bearing. My spline joint was worn and had a bad vibration that would go away when the front drive was engaged.
So now, my front prop shaft has mor angle because...
So, correction to above, as expected. The Allison measures about 13" wide at the body and pan flange. But, there seems to be adequate room for a much wider trans. The front prop shaft seems to hang well below the area the trans would occupy. The 13 speed is 6" wider total, or 3" per side...
Push shop air into the system through a drain valve or glad hand, see if there are any system leaks. If not, then go after the compressor/unloader system.
