It is a 2005 engine, but I am still going to stuff a new rear crank seal in it while it is out.
I will likely transfer over my 6CTA flywheel housing, fan drive, and exhaust manifold, to keep everything at the same locations. Oil pan too if need be for front axle clearance.
Got the mechanical to electronic throttle interface solved. Cummins actually makes a control adapter for marine. That was easy. This will handle the throttle and trans modulator cable, all with the stock pedal.
Next step, get the 400hp 8.9L ISL engine out of the RV, up here, and ground run...
I just acquired an 8.3L that was overheated, if you need the block when yours cracks in half and falls out of the truck. :)

Cool story, keep us posted.
There is an O ringed shuttle valve which lays sideways through the main body. This does the actual purge. It is hung open from debris. You can pull it out from a capped access port on the side of the main body. Blow it out, oil the valve, and put it back together. Not sure if it is similar...

Which CTIS control module do I need if I want to communicate with it using the Dana diag software? Easier to go by app vs part number, but both is best I presume. Have 1990 M925a2 right now, CTIS works perfectly, but will not communicate using...
See how smart you are? That is exactly where I was headed with this.
Could you imagine hooking two together? You would have like 169 gears to jam. That's a lot of jaw jacking on the CB.
It seems like 13 speed transmissions are either double low, or double over (drive)? Is there any that is just one of each? Or maybe that is what you do with the double-over one?
Simp says the 654 tranny is rated to 950ft-lbs. The ISL engine is torque limited to 1200ft-lb even, per request...
Looks like the first and second generation Dodge Ram pickups with the Cummins engines used exactly what I need to resolve the trans modulator cable and accel position sensor issue I would run into. They used a mechanical pedal, but it pulled on a bellcrank under the hood which had an accel...
Derrick, I just acquired a 6 speed single countershaft manual trans, which is hooked to a Cummins 8.3L engine. It is all still together, as I got the engine also. This is a narrow trans, a pinch narrower than the original Allison MT654CR that is in our trucks. PM me if you would be interested...
With an old school starter and no heat/ether, yeah maybe it goes like that. I do hear of people saying 2 is fine for even the 250 in cold weather though. An NHC-250 with no starting aids is probably not going to fire anyway though(?).
Almost.
No starter is rated to be cranked more than 30 seconds continuously without a 2 minute break. No engine should require more than 30 seconds to start, use ether or a heater instead of trying to kill the starter. A lower CCA battery of equivalent size has less plates, but they are...
The spindle end and hub is different. That is where the air is routed through. Hub has 3-4 seals total (depending if front rear). Not sure about inner axle part differences if any, beside flat bottom diff housing. Others may know more.
Thanks for the gesture, but not important that anybody buys from me. Just trying to move people into more modern, fail safe stuff, that doesn't commit suicide, no matter where they get it from. Even the $79 Chinese Delco clones are more reliable than the stock mil units. My stock one was...
