I am curious too. How is it that the affordable parts are always the hardest to get to. Since I work for free on only mine, flywheel cheap, labor $$$$ my guess. CAMO
https://www.easternsurplus.net/PartDetails/3267/HM-292-Flywheel-Assembly-HMMWV-CUCV-Diesel-engines and starter extra $$$$...
Things to think about... IMO. COOLING SYSTEM
Just won the rig? Study up on the TM's or manuals while waiting for the EUC. Good chance the dealer / sales person NOT going to do a walk around, a test drive or point you to the book in the glove box.
Flush the system really good. Rig maybe...
Found this and maybe it's old info. Lots of dope in one place. > https://gear-report.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/HMMWV-Quick-Refer-U.S.-Army.pdf <
Fixing you HUMMWV, easy as reading the funny paper, CAMO
Hows the fluid level?
I would be looking in the manual > https://hummerhuren.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/hmmwv_test-diagnostics.pdf < and this is the easy one to read.
Chapter 6 There are some simple checks like the modulator valve / cable adjustment. From there it gets into the details...
That's a tough question with MANY variables. Flex plate easy. Getting to it time consuming.
How fast can you spin wrenches? How many Red Bull's? How many honey do's in between?
Even with my NASCAR hat on it's a guessing game.
So with all the right parts on the bench?
Jacks on the floor...
I note your new to forum? Just got a Hummwv? These cooling issues can be learning experience to new owners and old ones too.
It always a back and forth when trying to "techno guess" issues thru text exchanges.
Based on your deductions, I believe you have narrowed it down. As I said...
Check the thermal switch in the crossover. It applies power to the TDM and on to the Cadillac valve. Sounds like the switch might ?? not be opening to de-energize the TDM and on to the valve. Yes, it works backward from what one might think. Maybe stuck in the closed position (the juice is...
Rev it up a bit. At idle doing the unplug test, it should be easy to see clutch lock up movement. Should hear the fan producing air flow. Rev it up for the big leaf blower action. At cruising speeds (50 or so) when that fan kicks in, you will KNOW it. If not, something still not quite...
Not to be confused with turning or not, the fan will always spin. When it is locked up, you will know it by LOTS of air movement, with a roar of noise, sucking engine power. Probably all ready knew that.
Cadillac valve does run warm due to warm / hot power steering fluid flowing thru it...
May not work right out of the box. May need to trim for proper match. Having it on the corner of fender it will have a distorted radiation pattern that is typical of location. Here's a link to help>

Tune for maximum smoke white or black, CAMO
No need to test drive. Turn the truck to run, engine off. Test light connected to the transmission kick down lead. Mash the peddle to the floor with no peddle interference, ie carpet, mat, insulation, squirrel nests. Light should come on.
Another, if engine fan has kicked in and running...
The switch isn't in the pan. The solenoid is in the transmission.

The switch> chapter 6 page 8
The transmission> chapter 6 page 7
The modulator control cable adjustment also very important for proper shifting, so...
ME BAD... Re-read your post and know that battery feed is continuous thru the PCB or Protective Control Box, next on to a circuit breaker, then to the Lighting Selector Switch. There is a lot going on in that switch mechanically to make or break circuits as needed. Any connection...
Not to sure what your trying to say. There is only one flasher unit or same for turning as for emergency hazards. Don't have a spare?? Quick check. It is a 3 wire device. One of the wires is ground = pin C, One is power, pin A and the other is interrupted - flashing output, pin B to a LAMPS...
IMO... there's not much comfort riding around in a HUMMWV for all of the reasons you can think of. It is the machine that it is. If your not particular about "original mil spec." then make it the way you can best enjoy it. Note that there's not a lot of wiggle room when going to a custom...
Don't recall those monster mushroom looking connections either. The cap connection and screws look about right, but I bet the metal is a thinner material. (is it really brass?)
Can be a hard lesson to learn with the knock off. Maybe a list of knock-off / non-QEM parts needs to be generated...
How can you connect up a glow plug backwards? Put it in the cylinder and connect one wire.
Now if you connect up the horn backwards it will suck instead of blow.
CAMO
Trying to keep up with the goings on here... Purchased sight unseen? Not sure of engine / options? Condition? I would say IF you got a good deal AND can legally keep IT with two titles, I would keep quite. Most winners are having bigger troubles just getting one title. If the PD had it...
This is not the TM's. Read it through, use the index to search out the problem. When stuff happens, you'll be ahead of the pack.
It's an easy read. Consider it you owners manual that didn't come in the glove box?? And it's free. >...
